Production has ended for Saab’s top-level offering, the current 9-5, at the Trollhattan plant. The 9-5 has been virtually unchanged since it started being produced in 1997. But in only a few weeks from now, it will be replaced by the 2010 model.

The last of the 9-5 to roll off the assembly line was a SportCombi wagon, which will be placed at the Saab Museum in Trollhattan. Even as the Saab factory was still producing the 9-5 wagon, the 9-5 sedan actually ceased production last July. To sum it up, Saab sold 483,593 examples of the 9-5 worldwide. But even while the life of the current 9-5 has ended in Sweden, China’s BAIC will be resuming production in China within the next few years.
