The New York Times reports:
Plenty of portable navigation devices and iPhone apps can help you with those senior moments when you forget exactly where you parked the car. The trouble with those apps is that you still have to remember to mark your parking spot in the navigation system or smartphone before you walk away. But soon you won’t even have to remember to do that.
iTag is an application that just entered a public test phase for Android-based phones, like the popular Motorola Droid. It’s ostensibly a security program intended to help folks recover lost or stolen phones. The primary function of iTag is to locate the position of a missing phone on iTag’s Web site. Frantic owners can then ring the phone if they choose, even if the phone is set to silent mode or vibrate. To perform that function on the iPhone, Apple’s Mobile Me service charges $99 a year.
