Can you protect yourself from tickets on California highways and support a good cause?

You can even get a badge!

In case you haven't already heard, there is a way to help a great cause and help yourself because your membership might also give that CHP officer a reason not to write you that nasty ticket.

It's called the 11-99 Foundation.

What is 11-99?

In the coded jargon of the California Highway Patrol, the call for an officer needing assistance is 11-99. It's appropriate then that an organization established to aide officers and employees of the California Highway Patrol be named the CHP 11-99 Foundation.

What is the CHP 11-99 Foundation?
The CHP 11-99 Foundation was founded in 1981 by Bob Weinberg as a charitable non-profit organization. This Foundation was created to provide benefits to California Highway Patrol employees and their families. This financial need generally arises due to a prolonged illness or death.

The CHP 11-99 Foundation is an organization that is very different from most charities. In fact you might not have heard of the 11-99 Foundation and there is reason for that. Over the years we have concentrated on benefitting the employees of the California Highway Patrol and spend little time or money promoting our charity's work and successes.

Our membership is made up of people from all walks of life who, like us, want to see the money they donate go directly to the causes of the charity. This is what the CHP 11-99 Foundation is very proud of. Our members are very supportive of the law and have always had a great respect for officers of the law. They have a demanding and difficult job and they should have the public's support.

We wish we were never needed, but, in fact, all too often we are. At the time of a CHP employee's distress and need, we're glad to be of some help and comfort to them and their families.

Here is a letter we were sent:

Well for those who don't believe in the CHP11-99 Foundation, this story will make you change your minds.

In California, time around 3pm. Driving on 85 South, going on the 280 on ramp. For those of you who know this section, the ramp from 85 to 280 is a long one and you can just fly out ramp onto the 280. I looked to my left for on coming traffic and didn't see anyone, so I pushed it from around 55mp to 100 in no time. All a sudden I see a front bumper next to my side door? I was in shock, then looked quickly and it was a black bumper with steel guards. Guess what it was a COP, no doubt about. Immediately gets behind me and puts on the lights. I pull over of course.

He comes over and tells me if I knew how fast I was going, I told him right away that I was speeding and was going probably around 90-95. He told me I was clocked at 102 ! I told him some Mustang was on my *** on 85 and I wanted to get him off my bumper. I gave him my CHP 11-99 membership badge.

Now two cop cars by the way. He comes back and tells me he doesn't know what to do, 1. give me a ticket or 2. give me a warning. Well he gives me a warning and says later. This was all done in about 3 minutes. That quickly I showed him my badge and I was out of there.

Wow, if I didn't have that, I can only imagine all the time in court, etc.... Can you imagine, going side by side at 100+ next to a cop. I am sure he was salavating to give me a ticket.

So guys, get out there and sign up...

There are numerous stories like this out there and we're not suggesting you buy this membership and go crazy, on the roads.

What we are saying is this should help you if you are innocently going a little too fast or you forgot to renew your registration.

It also supports a great cause.
