Dear 001,

It's a shame people do not pay attention any more, because telling me that a Jordan F1 gearbox had been seen at Lotus was a little inaccurate. It was actually a Toyota F1 gearbox, which makes far more sense bearing in mind that the two companies have a luvvy duvvy relationship going on at the moment.

I suppose that in defence of the pleb who passed on this information, it's fair to say that one gearbox looks just like any other gearbox. At a trip to the factory this week, I asked on behalf of 'Spies whether rumors that a BMW M5 engine has been investigated and they replied quite bluntly, "too heavy, too thirsty, too bulky and too dirty". Takes care of that rumor I suppose. Seems the smart money is still on an F1 variant of somebody's engine, which is good news in the power department.

Seems they are not too worried about speculation on the Autospies web site either, for it's generating phone calls to their factory about cars that are not even in production yet. Aston Martin should learn from this.
