Here's how it was told to me...
When the 959 came out, Bill Gates and Paul Allen (Allen was one of my former employers)were hot to get a couple into the US.
One problem though...
The car was not certified becuase they had never crash tested it.
So, when they contacted Porsche and asked to get them certified, Porsche said- 'You're nuts if you think we're crshing one of these babies'.
So what did the wonder boys do to help them end up getting a couple?
They took a team of their software programmers and had them build a 'crash simulation' for the government.
That was then submitted, and was finally approved so the 959 could get into the USA.
