AUDI INTEGRATES WITH iPOD IN THE 2006 A3

Audi of America, Inc. announced the iPod Interface Wiring Harness that directly links the Apple iPod, the world’s largest selling digital music player, with the 2006 Audi A3 2.0 T and it’s 10-speaker Concert and Symphony audio system.

The harness is compatible with a majority of A3, TT, A4, allroad quattro models, and previous generation A6 and A8 sound systems. These models, without optional satellite radio (except A3) or navigation, can now directly connect to an iPod with the use of this new iPod interface adapter. iPod, iPod mini, and the newly announced iPod nano media players are compatible with the Audi models.

With the use of the new harness, up to five different play lists can be accessed and played from an iPod through the vehicle’s audio system. The wiring harness is connected to the radio through the glove compartment, keeping the iPod protected and out of sight. While the iPod is in use, it is being powered - and charged - through the adapter.

The iPod Interface Wiring Harness will be available at Audi dealers by the end of the year.

Another Audi model arriving in dealerships in November also will have iPod integration, the new 2006 A3 3.2 quattro S-line. This newest version of the A3 model line comes with a powerful narrow-angle V6 engine firing 250 horsepower combined with Audi’s DSG transmission featuring TiptronicÒ controls and paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, and quattroÒ all-wheel drive. An aggressive appearance and wheel package also differentiate the A3 3.2 quattro S-line from other A3 models, and will start around $34,000.
