BMW has announced that it intends to begin production of its hydrogen-burning 7-Series executive car within two years. The company initially intends to build a few hundred hydrogen cars, which will be able to switch between burning standard gasoline and hydrogen. Having the option of both types of fuel means that drivers will not be left stranded while hydrogen re-fuelling infrastructure is developed!
While BMW is developing fuel-cell driven cars as well, it says it will still concentrate on the combustion engine for the time being. The company says that its long-term goal is to offer hydrogen motors in all its cars.
