001 gives you the ultimate tour of the Concours on Rodeo Drive
Agent 001 was busy catching all the action at today's Concours on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California.

The glamorous event is THE place to be seen every Father's Day in Beverly Hills.

001 met a lot of the Auto Spies faithful at the show as well. The entire street is closed down to showcase some of the world’s most beautiful vehicles and someimes you will see some Hollywood’s stars mingling through the crowd.

Today, we were told, Brittany Spears made a short appearance although we did not personally see her.

New this year at the show was our friend Henrik Fisker and his company Fisker Coachbuild, showcasing the new Latigo and a virtual display of auto design in action.

And Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's!

Heheh.

Sevor, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be forced out of a convertible, because my wife is (most likely) going to get a 335i convertible next year. SO, for a year, we'll have two convertibles, and I'll get a new car the year after.

I'm pretty sure that the Audi models out right now don't suit my needs. The S8, while beautiful, might be just too much money with the options I'd like. It's still on my list, but it's not at the top.

So I'm probably going to end up with a BMW or Merc. I'm thinking, for Mercs, the E63 AMG and S550 AMG. At the BMW camp, I'll be looking at (predictably) the M5 and 750Li.

Which Mercedes do you think would be more enjoyable? I have driven the S, but is a big car like an S-Class or CL truly fun to drive? I can't be sure. Both of those Benz sedans look very good to me...

go with the CL if you don't need room for 4 adults, the S is really common too...

An S-class is brilliant but it gets very expensive if you want to individualise it a bit. You are now driving an S4, which is a pretty swift car. So you will need something that is equally fun to drive or better. The 750i is awesome to drive but it's aging. The E63 AMG is a true beasts but that cannot be said about it's interior. If you buy a Merc, make sure it's one from the new generation. (CL, S, C) or atleast one with a beautiful line. Both the S and CL drive pretty much the same, perhaps the CL is a bit quicker in the bends but that's it.

How about a CLS 63?

I was considering that. But I'm not sure if it would be easy for my friends to get in and out of the rear. I'd rather have the E63, as sexy as the CLS is.

BTW, I think the E has the best interior of the "last-gen" Mercs. It's definitely nothing to sneeze at.

Thanks for the opinions, guys. The CL may be a bit too much of a boat for a coupe- if I'm getting a car that's 200in long, it's a sedan. It just wouldn't make sense to have two two-door cars, unless I really love the CL550.

BTW, I wouldn't need to get designo on an S550. I built it online, and it's $97K with my options: AMG Pack, Premium Package 1 and Rear Seat Package.

I'd like to borrow the military vehicle on page 7 and run over the Fisker cars.

Why would you want to do that?!?!?!?!?
The Fiskers are beautiful. :D
For example, a Tramonto with 600+ HP?

The military vehicle I'd like to see in North America is the Panhard VBL. If Peugeot goes ahead with plans to resurrect the Panhard brand for cars, they should also consider a civilian version of the VBL. It's the right size for urban traffic and looks like a cross between the huge Humvee and a dune buggy. BTW, it's amphibious. I wonder if they could build one with an aluminum body for under $100K.

The Cl doesn't look THAT bad, except for the exhaust perhaps. Its FAB Design by the way.

He lives in Chicago where there are some pretty bad winters.. right? Actually I'm not sure. But even in the P400 mode it will struggle on ice.

I never tried mine on ice since im living in a hot country, but you have a very good point. I guess then quatro fits him more. But that doesnt change the fact that the M5 is the meanest sedan on earth.

No, I'm definitely considering the M5. With snow tires, I could get through the winter, easily. In fact, the only car I'm considering that has AWD is the S8, but that might just be too much money with my options.
