You have to admit, this is pretty cool.

A driving freak who recently celebrated his 70th birthday, Irv Gordon, has turned over another clock as well. His 1966 Volvo P1800 has hit over 2.8 million miles. In 1998, he claimed a record in the Guiness Book Of World Records with 1.69 million miles on the odo.

Here's the kicker: the P1800 still boasts the same engine, radio, axles and transmission.

Talk about some serious life out of the car!

Would you have guessed a vehicle with this kind of longevity would be a Volvo?


The driver of the highest mileage vehicle on the road turns 70 years old today (it's longevity day here on Drive On, if you haven't noticed) and Volvo is helping him celebrate.

Irv Gordon's red 1966 Volvo P1800 has 2.8 million miles on it, and the septuaganarian says he wants to reach 3 million miles by his 73rd birthday.

"Three million miles is an iron clad number that I'd like to think sits right up there with DiMaggio's consecutive game hitting streak," Gordon said. "Who's going to beat that? No one...
