1961 Ferrari 250 GT California goes for $10 Million at auction
While pricing for the new Ferrari California is still yet to be released, the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder went for $10.9 million at RM Auctions this past weekend. DJ Chris Evans cashed out €7,040,000 for the Ferrari which was originally expected to go for a winning bid of €3.5 million.

A Ferrari 250 GT California sold last year at an RM Auction at the Concorse d’Eligance for $4.5 million dollars. Evans $10.9 million purchase obviously breaks that record getting him behind the wheel of a dark blue version that used to be owned by The Magnificent Seven star, James Coburn.

Now that is a timeless car, rare beauty. Not like the monstrosity that Ferrari is try to pass off as the new California.

Honestly I don't see the allure of owning such a car. Sure it looks good but it is bound to be unreliable and if you drive it hard it'll fall apart quicker than if you just cruise around in it. Italian cars are not known for durability you know.

I would save my money and get something more high quality like a Toyota or Lexus or any Japanese car.

You are f#ckin clueless! You don't drive this car hard. You cruise through the Hamptons in the summer for an hour or so on weekends. And its relieable because its pampered like a baby - by a mechanic you have on your personal staff!

And btw, the folks who can afford to pay $10MM for a car don't worry about saving money. They earn more interest in a day than you make in a year. For them $10MM is like $1000 for the average, college educated professional.

MichaelTaylor, if you don't understand why people would lust after a Ferrari like this, then you deserve to be in a Toyota!

From what I understand, he was egged on by his friends and a billionaire phone bidder kept upping the bid.

The seller was stunned that it sold for that much!

That guy paid waaaaaaay too much for that car...
