I do not think that this Euro pricing translates directly into US pricing - even excluding the 19% VAT, asking $75k (~0.8 * $93.5k) for the C63 seems to be too high a price for the US, as compared to the M3 (I believe pricing to be in the high $50k's to low $60k's).

For some reason I thought this car would come in around $65,000. Im with Cynical its expensive when compared to an M3. But then again the M3 doesn't have as much power or a 6.2 liter V8.

Is there not better cars for that much money? For some reason that seems a little bit overpriced to me.

It's in Euros. Euros are not directly translated to American dollars- we usually save about $20K.

People want the IS-F not this thing. The IS-F is a class leader. This is just a C class with a big engine. Nothing special.

M3 is 56,008.40 Euro and w/ 19% VAT, it's 66,650.

So the C63 AMG is not including the VAT?..wow that is expensive..

According to some Mags, it will cost about $60k - 63k in the US. Compare to $50-59k M3..

Bingo! This car will cost less than an Audi RS4 and some think that's expensive? This is the most powerful car in its class and is made by the most prestigious manufacturer. Even at $75K dollars it will still be a bargain if we compare it with the Audi RS4.

Not exactly. With the RS4, you still get better steering, a manual transmission and AWD. It really depends on your needs, as these two will be very close in price and spec.

Almost forgot- RS4 is also far more exclusive. And as some Audi haters suggest, it is not an excuse for a lack of sales, it just makes the car more desirable and more valuable.

"With the RS4, you still get better steering, a manual transmission and AWD."

Better steering?...how can you say that when these two cars haven't been in any direct comparison reviews yet. While the RS4 steering is good, we can't say for certain that it is better...at least not just yet.

I also don't think AWD is such a great thing. While it is good for safety, it isn't that great for performance. The manual transmission is better than an auto. because it's more efficient at getting power to the pavement. But any advantage a manual on a RS4 has is minimized by AWD. Remember that AWD systems tend to have a parasitic effect on power.

Here are links to compare the power rate of the RS4, m3 and m5. It shows you just how parasitic an AWD system can be:

RS4: http://www.rri.se/popup/performancegraphs.php?ChartsID=769

m3: http://www.rri.se/popup/performancegraphs.php?ChartsID=768

m5: http://www.rri.se/popup/performancegraphs.php?ChartsID=153

The RS4's steering is favored over the new M3. Unless the C63 AMG is THAT good (and I know it's very good), that kind of praise is hard to beat.

As for AWD: if YOU have ever read an RS4 review, you'd know how minimal the effect of AWD is on the car. It drives like a 3900lb AWD sedan should not.

C63 Will be the King of autobhans, no doubt about that, but if you pay that amount of money, you deserve the best performance. That's why you pay.

shift for yourself ladies! Come on, this car will be fast in a straight line, but so is my wife's V70R. Put it through some turns and I'm sure it will push and float with vague steering. This "compact" sedan probably weighs more than 4000 lb.

This is AMG we are talking about here.. They used automatics since 1967.

You can't convert Euros into Dollars. Sheesh! Different markets. The C63 will be base-priced around $60-$65K here in the US. On par with the new M3.

Car prices in Germany don't correlate with the US prices.
For example, in Germany, a standard Porche 911 CS will cost around 82,000 Euros (tax not incl.), i.e around 114k US$. While in Porche's US website, the same car will cost 84k US.

I believe such difference will be found with the Merc C63 and probably other German Cars.

I think it would be great if I was a German and moved to the US, while the Euro is up :)

It's true about all other European cars. They're always more expensive across the Atlantic; in the UK, they can be as much as twice as much because of the strength of the pound (or the weakness of the dollar, but I'm a cup-half-full type of guy).

It would be absolutely normal for a car like the Mercedes C63 AMG to be priced above the Audi RS4. I don't see where the confusion comes from.

US prices will likely be $55-65K. AMG versions are typically about 45-50% more than standard cars. for example, S550 bases at $87K, S63 at $127K--a 46% premium.

"The combination of expressive design, a decidedly sporty interior and superb everyday practicality makes the C 63 AMG a unique high-performance vehicle. The market launch of the saloon and estate models will commence in early 2008. Retail prices incl. 19% VAT will be 67,235 euros (C 63 AMG Saloon) and 69,853 euros (C 63 AMG Estate)."

Price will be 54k euros, inline w/ M3 prices. Figure about 2% more than the M3 in the US as well.

It will probably be $60K-70K, very much in line with the RS4, although a bit more than the M3. I'm guessing the BMW will come in at $62K.
