2008 Abt Audi AS5 In Detail
Unobtrusive design and powerful appearance - this is what the Abt AS5 stands for. With a discerning eye on the detail Abt enhances the elegant Audi Coupé with its breathtaking, pleasing contours and the stretched flanks. The team from Kempten has managed to upgrade the unique vehicle without changing its character. With the two coloured paint and the Abt body kit, the AS5 appears like a mannequin in an extravagant designer tailor-made suit. The front skirt, in which a grid element accents the front fog lights and the single-frame grill, the strikingly curved lateral parts, the fender insets and the gill-shaped air inlets form a shapely unit. The Coupé is a unique and beautiful car, no matter from which perspective. The rear skirt inset with the diffuser excellently harmonizes with the 4-pipe rear muffler, together with the perfectly designed rear spoiler it accentuates the rear of the vehicle. As ideal complement, Abt recommends the new BR wheel in 20 inch. With its superposed spokes, the wheel seems to rapidly move forward although it is standing still.

The Abt AS5 is not only optically a real sports car. In Essen it is presented with the powerful 3.0 TDI engine which, thanks to Abt Power S, now brings 300 HP (221 KW) onto the road instead of the serial 240 HP (176 KW). The torque of 600 Nm is getting free at already 2400 rpm and provide for shear force in all situations. Also impressive is the acceleration of the self-igniting engine. Exactly 5.3 seconds needs the car from standing still to 100 km/h, the top speed is 264 km/h - values which suit to a sporty Coupé like the Abt AS5. In order that the impressive power remains controllable, Christian Abt, motor sport professional, excellently adjusted the Abt thread sports suspension in detail. And the Abt brake system with discs 380 millimeters diameter powerfully grips.Abt multifunctional sports steering wheel, soft nappa leather grip and carbon look leather adorn the driver’s workplace. Abt aluminium pedals and gear shift knob complete the sporty accent in the interior. A successful masterpiece can be seen at the ESSEN MOTOR SHOW, the Abt AS5. The only downside is: It wants to be driven and this, unfortunately, is impossible in the exhibition hall.

Inferior to BMW, except for looks, performance, quality, and comfort.

Hate to rain on your BMW lovefest, but Audi is a DIRECT competitor to BMW and Mercedes-Benz as pointed out my countless more intelligent and astute opinion makers and automotive professionals than your amazingself, and the list goes on and on. Furthermore, Lexus is now also a competitor to Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. Maybe not globally yet, but enough on a scale to say that there are four Tier 1 premium brands. Seriously, get overself already! You're a running joke on this blog dude.

his comments are a bit much....but it doesnt blow the 3 series away in any of those categories you mentioned, in fact it feels less comfortable thanks to its feel every bump in the road uncomposed ride, and oddly enough extremely light steering so not beating it on performance. It was odd...Buick steering with a 350Z ride you would think the ride would have been soft as well, but it was horrible. better next time hopefully the car is very good looking at least.

One last thing amazingself, if Audi wasn't a competitor to BMW or MB, why does the A8L kick the crap of the 7-Series in every known automotive comparison and tie the new S-Class for top honors in this uber luxury class? Let's hope for your sake that BMW gets the next 7-Series right so it can take on the A8L and S-Class properly.

It is you who is the running joke, my friend. and before you reply, tell me what you drive? a4? fwd version.. obviously.

Only in your little pathetic dreams it will. First of all my friend, I ALREADY told you what I drove in previous blog, so go find it. Second of all, Audi if you were not aware Audi is about to release a new A8 as well that will easily obliterate your precious little 7-Series that has never gotten any love from the automotive community when compared to the much superior A8L, S-Class, and LS competitors. You may good sheep...keep following. Where do you ge the FWD BS all the time? As for the cost, I suggest you check out the pricing of the A8L. You BS tagline of those that don't have money is blatant ignorance of facts. You really need some assistance in critical thought. The only distant second is your 7-Series.

viso.. ignoring facts doesnt make them go away, you dork.. AUDI SELLS A FWD A8 IN EUROPE!!. have you heard of that place, mr. mental midget.
the 7 series has alwasy been a better engineered and more dynamic car.. the a8 with its conservative slab sided styling appeals to a few dorks, buts that the only point in its favor. the 7 in the meantime has defined a whole new design language for the industry. keep dreaking. VW boy.. keep dreaming.

I guess that is why BMW has to incentize the 7-Series so much to sell it. Check your facts wannabe boi. Keep living in denial.
