2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Announced In UK
The first example of just 41 Alfa 8C Competizione supercars destined for the UK, arrived here last week.

The ultra-rare £138,500 hand-built Italian sportscar was collected by award-winning Manchester-based architect, Ian Simpson, from Alfa’s largest and longest established dealership, Mangoletsi, in Knutsford, Cheshire.

Visually arresting from every angle, the Alfa 8C Competizione looks every inch a supercar, with performance credentials to match. Under the bonnet a responsive 4.7litre V8 engine produces an awesome 450bhp. Channelled through a sophisticated 6-speed F1-style paddle shift gearbox to the rear wheels, the Alfa 8C Competizione produces enough power to launch its occupants from 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds, and on to a top speed of 181mph.

Ian Simpson, who registered his interest in the Italian thoroughbred when the vehicle was first unveiled as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003, commented: “This car is truly worth the wait. It’s everything a supercar should be. It’s unmistakably beautiful, it has a distinct engine note and the high performance credentials place it firmly alongside the most exotic cars on the planet. I am delighted and proud to be the first customer in the country to experience this incredible car.”

You have just shown that you aren't a car enthusiast, which is specifically the market this car is being built for. If you would rather drive boring appliances than the gorgeous vehicle that this Alfa is then have fun. If I had the cash and the opportunity I would take this Alfa over pretty much anything on the market.

Reliability? All modern cars are reliable. I haven't seen a car broken down on the side of the road for years. If the only thing that Toyota can claim over it's competitors is reliability then they are hurting. Who in their right mind would choose any Toyota of this Alfa?

And besides, Judging from the amount of recalls Toyota has had lately. They seem to not offer anymore reliability than anyone.

So there you have it. Not only is Toyota one of the weakest brands when it comes to driving dynamics, they also aren't really anymore reliable than any other make. And even if they were more reliable. I'd gladly be willing to take a BMW to the dealership one more time per 3 years, because every single day during those 3 years I'd be driving a great car with great driving dynamics instead of an Automotive Appliance (Toyota).

Thanks for that. I really felt like reading about your dislike for Toyota when I clicked on this Alfa Romeo story.

I didn't bring up the subject of Toyota, Someone else did. But you choose to only respond to the post that has something negative to say about Toyota? Hmmmmm

I love this car but, holy cow, that's a lot of Bank for an Alfa. Our local Ferrari dealers is getting Alpha, and I wonder how this car is going to sell sitting next to a similar price Ferrari?

It won't matter, this car won't be sitting in showrooms. It is a limited-run car and has already found all its owners.
