2008 Audi A8 Facelift Pictures
Unique character, consistently enhanced
To achieve this, many aspects have been refined in the unique blend of sportiness, elegance, supreme control and sophistication that forms the Audi A8 character. For instance, the more direct steering and re-engineered running gear have produced even more exact handling. Overall travelling comfort has also been enhanced by the modified adaptive air suspension and extensive improvements to noise insulation. These make the Audi A8 one of the world's quietest and most comfortable saloon cars.

The new assistance systems Audi lane assist and Audi side assist promise to make life easier for the driver and considerably enhance safety, especially on long journeys. Their tasks are to alert the driver if the car begins to drift out of its lane and to warn of vehicles in the adjacent lane.

Headlights look rounder, and headlight bulbs look darker. And the whole front-end is more 3D like on the R8.

The fog lights are different, the tail lights look more LED and the rims are new. Did the 1 before have a shark finn?

Thank you, admitting the A8 is a beautiful sedan. I love it, and the low sales are a mystery to me, but as I told BMW4me4ever, if it sold well, it wouldn't be as interesting.

Looks beautiful as always.
But I'd still rather take the S-Klasse.

I think I know that the S is a more competent vehicle, and has more luxury, power, tech, etc. However, I have just no desire to buy it- zero. On the other hand, I'd take an A8 or S8 any day. To me, the S-Class is just an @sshole type of car to drive (sorry to anyone on this site who has one). No, I'm not jealous of them, as I could get one if I really wanted to. But the image that car carries really turns me off. It's too arrogant. A8L is the anti-S-Class.

what do you think that Audi has to do to their flagship in order for it to sell in the US? Right now they are on pace to sell only about 3,000 untis for the entire 2007 year .. That is only average of 200 a month. I cant figure this car out for Audi. It is a nice car, alot nicer than Jaguar but still only sell about the same. thoughts?

I've never understood it, either. The A8 is amazing and I love it, but it's always a novelty when I see it on the road. They probably have more orders for the $109,000 R8 than this sedan.

I actually think it adds to the A8's mystique. If it sold as well as 7er, S-Class or LS, it just wouldn't be as interesting any more.

a bmw is 799 a month and the A8 is 1400
that is part of it

Only the S8 and W12 are gas guzzlers. None of the V8 versions are which is to be expected in this class.

They won't be laughing at the Audi S8.

amazinBimmer, compare apples to apples not super-limited Alpina model BMWs and AMG Benzes to regular Audis.

GermanNut, don't let amazinBimmer get to you. You're just taking the bait by replying to all of his posts.

I agree, though. The B7 doesn't even drive that well, say the reviews- I'd just take a 750Li Individual, or even a 760, though the 750 is about as fast.

On the other hand, CL55...? #1 it's a coupe, and #2 it's not even sold any more! What was he thinking when he typed that? The CL55 is an old man's boat; can't take on an S8.

I would like to answer to bmw4ne4ever, I agree with you the sales number are limit pathetic when you look at the small picture, but when you look at the big picture and you consider that each Audi dealer has anywhere from 2 to 5 A8 in stock at any given time, 200 sales a month is not bad. Ask a bimmer or benz dealer how many 7 or S they have, tons of them probably. The A8 is a rare, made of aluminum remember, vehicle. It also leases for way more than a 7 or an S, which are by the way heavily subsidised by the manufacturers.
I encounter quite frequently prospect customers that say that they wanted an A8 but could not afford it and want with the 7 or the S.
For my wallet I am not sure I like that exclusivity thingbecause I would like to sell more of them, but I can understand Audi perspective and that production capacity and exclusivity make the A8 a small seller. For the rare educated people with wealth it is attractive.

audi is not going to sell any cars that they will not make money in the usa

they loose 20 % just in the exchange rate
they sell all the cars they want in the usa

Honestly, the US market isn't that important in terms of revenue for Audi.

The exchange rate kills them, whereas in Europe (Britain especially) and China they make a lot more money.
If ever a car is a success worldwide the first place they cut deliveries to is the US, it's what they did with the Q7 last year when European sales exceed expectations.
