- Latest in a long line of special performance-luxury versions of BMW production models by ALPINA Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH+Co. KG, a family-held company located in Buchloe, Bavaria, Germany
- Second BMW ALPINA model to be marketed officially in U.S. by BMW of North America; first was the
BMW ALPINA ROADSTER V8 of 2002-03
- Based on BMW 750i, a model of BMW’s 7 Series luxury sedans
- Powered by a 500-hp supercharged V-8 engine developed by ALPINA, based on BMW’s Valvetronic 4.4-liter V-8
- Produced in small numbers by BMW’s Dingolfing, Germany factory and the ALPINA facility in Buchloe

What’s new/features that distinguish the 2008 BMW Alpina B7 from the BMW 750i- Performance & efficiency- 4.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine – 500 hp, 516 lb-ft. torque (750i: 4.8-liter V-8, 360 hp, 360 lb-ft. torque)
- Radial supercharger is a new development of ALPINA, offered in a passenger car for the first time
- 6-speed automatic transmission with SWITCH-TRONIC, a system of sequential manual shifting developed by ALPINA

- Specially-calibrated 7 Series aluminum suspension system with Active Roll Stabilization
- Larger-dimensioned 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes
- 21-in. wheels and Z-rated performance tires in differentiated front/rear sizes
- Tire Pressure Monitor, a new system of monitoring air pressure in each individual tire; also found on other BMW models

- ALPINA front bumper/spoiler ensemble
- ALPINA rear bumper ensemble, trunklid spoiler
- 2008 BMW Alpina B7 badging
- Exterior paint selection includes ALPINA Blue, a traditional color offering of ALPINA vehicles
- Radial-spoke alloy wheels are also a long-standing ALPINA tradition

- ALPINA doorsill trims and floor mats
- Unique instrument cluster
- Special Lavalina leather-wrapped steering wheel with SWITCH-TRONIC shift buttons
- Nasca leather upholstery, perforated for Active Ventilation of front seats
- With ALPINA Blue exterior, interior includes ALPINA Myrtle wood interior trim; otherwise, American Walnut wood trim is standard, high-gloss Ash also available
- Standard SIRIUS Satellite Radio, including lifetime subscription
- Additional standard equipment over BMW 750i also includes Comfort Access, Soft Close Trunk, driver’s seat with Active Support feature, rear heated seats, Alcantara headliner, power rear-window and rear door-window sunshades, Shadowline exterior trim, Logic7 Premium Sound System

It's funny how you mention the S8 which has an as of yet untapped V10. Not to mention the 4.2 V8 in the R8 and RS4 that put out 420hp with natural asperation. Supercharge or turbo charge eith power plant the conversation ends. I am impressed by this car but again, I feel the S8 is a better overall car and could be even stronger if they'd only open the engine up to it's full potential.

I don't get it. We've had this car available in Canada (as a '07 model) for a year or so.
