£ is the sign for the British Pound not the Bloody EURO and if you go to any Website that does Currency Conversions you will be able to Calculate that £50,625 is equal to $101,296 USD at the very least.
At least do some research before trying to argue with me.

I had to pinch myself to see that i was not dreaming.
The Pound has not been less than $1.5o for so long it does not even matter.
Exchange Rate at this Second for £ to $ is:
£1 GBP = $2.00094 USD
SO £50,625 * 2.00094 = $101,297.59
If you still cant get that then I give up.

Damn you are stupid... We (as in europeans) doesn't all have the same money... Most of the EU has the currency you are refering to, the euro (€) which is equivalent to roughly 1.3$ pr €, but some countries have their own currency such as Great Britain where the currency is pound (£). And £1 is $2, roughly... If you can't even understand that, you need to get your tuition back!

For one thing, the British price includes VAT so your price is wrong.
We use pounds, not Euros in Britain. And the pound -dollar exchange rate is like 1 pound for 2 dollars.
Omarrana, you could have picked that up?

WTF?! So because we try to explain to you why the M3 is more expensive in the UK than a Porsche is in the US, we're retards?! The M3 won't be anywhere near 100k in the US! It will most probably be priced VERY close to the RS4 since that is the car it is going up against! Also, it is probably a pretty safe bet that the M3 will be at least as fast as the RS4 and the RS4 is considerably more powerful and considerably faster than a Carrera S even a 4S! Hell, only the 996 and 997 turbo and GT3 models are able to beat that car around the nürburgring:

LexusAdmirer, I love the 911, too... but for $70K you don't even get power seats or self-dimming mirrors. A 911 with equivalent options to a $65-70K M3 would be pushing $100 grand... if not more. I built "my" Carrera 4S Cabrio online the other night, and it was almost $116K! And that's just with the options that are already on my $65K S4!

BMW always underestimates their prices. it will be closer to £200K. that puts it in direct competition with the phantom/continental flying spur/LS600hL LEXUS so that means the m3 will be crushed by the LS600hL ahahahhahahahahaahah

Actually the US currency dosent suck it Rocks(sort off) ! it is merely the currency used the world over for trade. The UKP on the other hand is held artifically high by the BOE
(Bank of England) mainly as it serves as tool against inflation and cost of living index. Similarly the Euro is pegged high as the EU has kept money supply on a tight rein to control the huge deficiets by the European countries who are part of the monetory union. ( Please note that the above is a simplification of the economics in question )
So yeah !! one dollar is approx 0.5 UKP and 8.0 yean is one dollar and about 127yen is one dollar. That dosent make china or Japan any poorer.

It's overpriced no matter how you slice it. European prices usally include a VAT (value added tax). Canada has an equivalent tax called GST but it's much lower at only 6%. Many European car manufacturers practice what I call "blackmail marketing". If you want a V8 instead of an almost-as-expensive V6 or in-line 6, you'll have to pay through the nose. Another form of blackmail marketing is making a few uninviting colors standard and then charging extra for all other colors. My advice is to punish these guys and not play their game -- there are many choices in the market today.

In Europe and the UK these guys get away with Blatant Theft.
A fully Loaded Audi A3 2.0L TDI cost my lil brother over 30,000 GPB (Great Britain Pounds)
Thats over $60,000 for a 2 litre Diesel Audi A3
Same thing on Petrol and every other concievable purchase you have to make.
But the car thing is no contest as far as i am concerned. if you can sell it in NA for $68,000 then you can sell it in the UK for british equivalent of $70,000 which is approx 35,000 GBP. (And the British Government is not Crazy enough to charge 15,000 GBP Tax on a 35,000 GBP Vehicle)
SO THE AUTO MANUFACTURERS ARE ROBBING US BLIND.

I also just noticed that is a 6,500 GBP increase on the Last Gen Coupe
In 2002 i purchased a Brand New Conv M3 Evo (UK) and it cost me just under 49,000 GBP Fully Loaded with the Temp Hard Top.
So if the Coupe is MSRP for over 50,000 GBP i can only dread the Conv Prices.
Its almost as if they are trying to close the Gap with MBs CLK. (MBs are ALWAYS more expensive than BMWs in UK)
Makes sense though, Too many Chavs were driving the Last Gen M3s in the UK so i guess the only conclusion BMW could make was that their vehicles were Too Affordable.

Too many of you are trying to use currency conversion to determine pricing, which is never the case. BMW can change the pricing in whatever market they like, regardless of the currency conversion. And they do.
The duty taxes that UK folks have to pay to get cars into their country are outrageous.

No... british car taxes are quite sensible! They actually take into account how much the car pollutes! Every country should have a system where the car is taxed according to how much it pollutes! Maybe that would bring an end to the american gas guzzlers!

Socialism? I wouldn't go that far... But I guess we are pretty red here :D Luckily, I don't pay income tax because of my profession, so I don't mind paying a bit extra for my car... But to the average dane who pays between 40 and 60 % income tax depending on income, it does seem quite steep... But our average income reflects the taxes. When looking at net. income, Danes are still pretty high up on the list... And they don't have to worry about medical insurance, school tuition or what to do if you loose your job. So I guess that afterall, I shouldn't really complain... But that won't stop me from doing it!

Im not knocking the system, but free education, medicine and job security are all cornerstones of a socialist economy. I have freinds that I travled the states with that were from Sweeden and Norway. My friend from Norway made 60,000USD dollars a year working in a pizza shop. But when a slice of pizza costs 12USD in Norway its all relative. I am a capitalist and do not believe people should just be given oppurtunities, they should seek them.

Norway is expensive man... A regular beer costs 15$ up there (twice of what it costs in Denmark)... Denmark has a higher tax rate, but our prices are much lower (lets take your slice of pizza, in Denmark, a pizza, not just a slice, cost 8$) and our pay is just as high... A standard salary is around 80k a year.
As to the "people should seek opportunities", I agree, but not to the extend where people who, for whatever reason, can't or won't should be left to their own devices. I believe that you should help those weaker and less fortunate than yourself.
Anyway, I guess when it comes down to it, we are kind of socialistic up here in Scandinavia, but I can assure you, I would trade my little corner of the earth for any other! That is one thing I have learned from traveling all over the world. I'm not implying anything racial at all, but simply that when you see how people live around the world, you suddenly don't mind paying taxes (which I don't because i'm a sailor BTW)...

I couldn't agree with you more. This is abosolutely great to see some competition price wise for these two products (RS4 & M3). I've been considering special ordering the M5 Touring but decided to wait for the RS6 Avant (Not released yet) which might be too long of a wait so I'd be attempting a special order of the RS4 Avant (IMO has more of a stealth look to it vs. new M3).

Let's hold that argument until BMW announces pricing in the US. It's never been toe for toe relative to UK.
Either way, a quattro car will never be as fun to drive as a comparably powered RWD car. Unless BMW does something stupid, BMW has one that comparo already.

If no one has mentioned it yet, but cars are priced in different markets for different reasons (standard of living/purchasing power). It's not a straight currency conversion.
Canadian/US car prices haven't fluctuated much eventhough the Canadian dollar has gained about $0.25 on the greenback since 2000. Already said before but US dealers are not permitted to directly sell cars in the Canadian market.

I don't think they'll sell you an M-sport package for the 3-series, but they offer another "M-pack" but that is a different spoiler kit. But if you really want it to look like an M3, it won't be long before german tuners like Hartge and AC Schnitzer will offer a conversion package with fender flares spoilers and the hood (still not sure if I like that by the way). But it probably won't come cheap!

i have a 2005 bmw m3 pretty much fully loaded and it cost me 60,000. i strongly doubt that the new m3 will cost more than 65,000 fully loaded and the convertible probably about 70,000.
i think at 53,000 a fully loaded 335i is a great price for the performance being just as good as the 2002-2006 m3.
going into the price range of 70,000 i think a few people might want to get a 650i over the m3.

Yeah "Will" there is currently an M package available for the 335i, but it doesn't look as identical to the M3 as the 5 M package does the M5.
This is a pretty premium price for an M3 though, a 645ci coupe cost that much 2 years ago, the M3's price is up about 10 grand. "Chewy" seems to be the only one excited by this news, however expect the sedan to be cheaper.

Certainly more comparable than UK-US.
What side of the road do they drive on in the UAE (you are in the UAE right?)?
And is the button for the rear wiper on the ceiling?
We just got the SRX, it's a refresh model I think, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side! And for 70000 dollars people would much rather have an LR Discovery or stretch to a Q7 or X5 or ML.

the steering wheel is on the left side. And the rear wiper buttons are not on the ceiling. How can they sell the SRX in the U.K if the steering wheel wasnt on the right? retards! Oh and I only bought mine because of the good price the dealer gave me, and the waiting list on the X5 is..... till next year!!!!

The SRX really isn't much less here. Well-equipped, you're looking at $40-50K.

If the M3 stays around $60K, this could be the best value on the market. Why get something like a $65K 550i, when you could get a $60K M3? You know you want to...
I would've definitely looked at the M3 convertible, but now that I've thought about it, I don't want another winter car- and therefore need an AWD car. I'm leaning towards the C4S. Thoughts?

BTW, I meant C4S CABRIO. If I was looking at coupes, R8 would be on the list too- but I have a feeling that the R8 Spyder, if there is one, will be too much money.

I was looking at a Carrera S coupe before I leased out my 650i, & ultimately I decided on the 6 because it's a better touring car & I like to take long road trips. Sure the 6 is a slightly slower machine but you get more bang for the buck & a better engine node.
I gotta be honest though I don't really like the Carrera cabrio, it blends in with the other cars on the road to much. Mabye it's just because I'm not really a fan of convertibles to begin with.

Is it me or is the m3 run time the same 0-60 test the 335i in the car and driver comparo test. Which is a little over 4 seconds. Yet the m3 cost way more even if you option the 335i with m package and a whole lotta other goodies.

I drove a bunch of cars yesterday, including the Cayman base and Cayman S. The Cayman base was crap. Very underpowered, and I was not very impressed with the S. I think the Boxter S drives better, better feedback, better all around car than the Cayman. The Cayman S is more competing with the M-Coupe anyway.
Then I walked across the stree to the BMW dealership and hopped in a 335. Very impressed. That 3 series chassis in coupe form is just
