wow that does look very good from this angle!

Are they planning a soft top or a bloated overweight hardtop for the M3?

those wheels are pretty overwhelming for a bimmer.
i do like the way the windshield [at the top] never does "end"

Beautiful!

But I hate the hardtop... that's why I would take the coupe over it...

If it's a hardtop convertible, it'll be one fast, ugly mother.

The practicality of a hardtop convertible is nice in theory. But in real life, they are very complex mechanically, with hundreds of bits that can go wrong. They are very heavy and take up a lot more trunk space that a folded cloth roof.

In addition to the extra weight of the roof itself, cabrio's often have to have their chassis strengthened to compensate for structural rigidity lost by lopping the roof off. Imagine twisting a shoebox without a lid. Put a lid on it and it hold its shape much better.

And not only that, but the soft top offers a similar level of insulation along with the lower weight and more trunk space. They look better to boot. The only sexy hardtop car is the Mercedes-Benz SL.

I was surprised and disappointed at BMW's decision to put a tin top on this car. Audi and Porsche are sticking to rags, and that seems like something BMW would do, too.

And I think Merc are sticking to cloth for the next CLK.
