2008 DETROIT AUTO SHOW: Saab 9-4X BioPower Images Leaked

Again an embargo break, this time the Saab 9-4X BioPower Concept falls victim to the ever-more cut-throat automotive industry. The Dutch AutoTelegraaf have either found these (low res) images on the net or have themselves broken the embargo.

The 9-4X BioPower concept looks production ready, and the newspaper claims that the Saab 9-4X BioPower will go into production this year at GM's plant in Mexico and should go on sale in the USA not much later, Europe will follow in the following months.

Very handsome, but...

There's a fine line between vehicles that have a 'Family resemblance', and a case of 'same sausage - different size'.

I hope that SAAB understands this, and diversifies their new look a bit more.

Nice Effort None-The-Less

Cool take on being eco-friendly though...

definitely agree with you DaHarder...

though, this does look very very appealing. x3/ex/glk/q5 have another competitor

Looks like it could share a platform with the Matrix/Vibe. This vehicle could be competition for the Subaru Forester XT if executed correctly (JDM Forester xt utilizes a 2.0l turbo boxer, just as this vehicle does). Intersting, as Toyota owns Subaru, and Toyota does a joint venture with GM to produce the Matrix/Vibe.

does toyota own subaru fully or partially?

Toyota owns Subaru partially, 8% or so.

I am incorrect in my guess of the Vibe relation. I guess it will be based on a larger vehicle and share that platform with a future small Caddy and Buick cross-over.

Can anyone else still see GM in that hyper modern interior?

I guess this concept lends itself to being on the same platform for the next SRX...

After seeing the Cadillac Provoq and now the 9-4x, I'm beginning to regain more confidence in Saab and Cadillac's future crossover SUVs.
