Hey, I'm a real estate agent and leasing is the best way for me to get a car.

Chip, you'll love the X6.

If nothing else, maybe these good reviews will mean BMW starts discounting/incentivizing the X5 so I can afford one.

Thanks 001..I was previously an 'aztec' naysayer but after watching your video I think the X6 looks pretty great.

EL34-

For the love, pick a vehicle you're going to buy/lease and do it already. For the past two years you've been saying you're going to buy the big car. Remember the time when you were going to buy the Lexus LS? Then the BMW X5, the Mercedes E-Class BLUETEC, then the GL-Class BLUETEC, now this. Will you please get something and stop informing us every week what your next purchase will be? And also, how do you know Chip will love the X6? Have you driven the X6? Have you even seen one?

When my FX35 lease is up, the X6 is going to be on my very short list for next vehicles. I love this size SUV (obviously).

tell us what is more important.. REAR seat room and comfort, and REAR storage area...

Does your 6'5" fit in the rear?

Look at the lead photo in the article...pic of someone in the back seat and yes I can fit as well.

Wouldn't want to be back there for a 10 hour drive but under 2 hours, fine.

I'm 6'3" and with the front driver's seat where I'd normally have it, sitting behind it, I had PLENTY of leg room. I'd say a good 4-5 inches extra. The rear seat is actually reclined a little bit, so even that has a bit more aggressive feel to it. Not like you're laying down, but like you're also in the driver's seat.

However, my head was hitting the roof of the X6 even with this built in recline. It needed to be about 1" higher for me not to hit.

JRobUSCJRobUSC - 1/18/2008 11:03:48 AM
0 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
according to BMW the rear seats only lose 1.1" of headroom in the rear versus the X5, so supposedly most people will fit fine in the X6. I'm heading to Detroit Wednesday, that's definitely one of the cars I'll be checking out.

it still think the X5 looks better, I saw my first X6 in real life today and I was dissapointed (a bit). But the new xDrive system and than stunning new engine are amazing.

Exactly. It is a more stylish X5, in the same fashion that the CLS-Class is a more stylish E-Class. The problem is that the X6 is not THAT much more stylish than the X5.

disagree completely ... in person it has much more of a presence than the X5. Looks more muscular. It is going to be very limited production in the US. BMW is only going to send about 8,000 to the us per year ..

it's an X5 with a slanted trunk...what's so great about it?

only thing that should deserve news from this vehicle is its hybrid introduction for BMW. the rest is really attrocious. i mean, BMW as of late is trying to invent new segments for unwanted designs.

think abotu it...a minivan is for a large family, pick-up truck for towing/hauling goods, luxury sports sedan for speed and agility with room to spare.

this x6, what class is it for? it can't carry much, the passengers look uncomfy in the back seat...what design thought process was bangle thinking?

just look at the picture above, i've seen coupes with more rear legroom...hell even a the honda fit is bigger and can probably carry more.

sorry for my ranting, but this is just plain stupid!

this is meant for someone who doesnt want a sporte ute and doesnt need another sports sedan. They are looking for something with more of a presence. Just so you know, the X6 looks bigger than the X5 and definitely more sporty. Wait til you see it in person, especially in Black.

R15... it is a big vehilce but a lot faster and more nimble than the X5. People said that when the Mercedes CLS came out that lack of rear headroom and calling it a 4 dr coupe was ridiculous. Look what happened, almost every manufacturer is introducing a CLS competitor.

They will subvent the lease right out the box.Their's not enough room for main stream buyers.Only people who care about styling will buy this suv.BMW should stick to what they do best sport sedans that's all they really know how to do.BTW it will ride like a brick like the x5 does.

^^^thanks for clarifying the engine size. 4.8 may drive nice but the 3.0 is WAY to slow! I felt like someones grandpa in that thing.

its the 306hp twin turbo 3.0 of 335i so it will NOT be slow. Its NOT the same engine as the 3.0 x5.

The X5 is THE best-handling SUV. Seeing as the only one that competes that could really come close is the Porsche Cayenne S, and having driven both, I can say with confidence that the X5 was far better. It felt more connected to the road, had a much better exhaust note, had a much more luxurious interior and to top it all off, costs ~$15K less with similar options.

The X6 is a very nice car. Leasing it would be the way to go. I would choose the M3 Coupe over the X6 though.

And do you really think the X6 has a cheap interior? It's the same as in the X5, which is the nicest in its class.

BTW I didn't say it didn't handle well that's precisely why it rides like a brick.Let me explain toyou non-car professionals if you design a vehicle to handle with great responce and handling, you have to make a tighter suspension with less travel. Those purpose vehicles will naturally ride harder. Most of the buying public wants more comfort and a smoother ride because their not going to take their SUV on a race track. That why the X- doesn even come close to the RX-350 sales numbers.
