2008 Ford Falcon SR Special Edition
The new special edition 2008 Falcon SR will be displayed for the first time at the Brisbane International Motor Show.

“The new Falcon SR builds on the success of previous special edition Falcon models, while delivering more additional equipment and features than ever before,” Ford Australia General Marketing Manager Kevin Lillie said. “It is an exceptional value-for-money package, with the extra features available to customers for no additional cost.”

The 2008 Falcon SR offers almost $7,000 of additional equipment and features for more than $2,000 less than the recommended retail price of the standard BF Falcon XT MkII (on which it is based). It has a recommended retail drive away price of $32,888.

The special edition SR model gains a host of new exterior and interior appointments over and above the current Falcon XT, along with some unique ‘SR’ touches that signify its exclusivity. Inside, it features the prestige audio system with six-disc in-dash CD player, unique sports seat trim and an XR leather-wrapped steering wheel. The unique sports seat trim incorporates leather seat bolsters and front headrests with dark silver contrast twin needlepoint stitching, ‘Winton’ fabric inserts and ‘SR’ embroidery, which is also in a dark silver thread.

The exterior of the Falcon SR has also been further enhanced to differentiate it from the XT. This has been achieved thanks to a premium bodykit including chrome front grille and hood moulding, front bumper valance, rear bumper and rocker mouldings. Body colour mirror scalps, body colour side protection mouldings, a rear spoiler, chrome exhaust tip and a unique ‘SR’ decal complement the overall package, while a set of four 17-inch nine spoke alloy wheels complete the unique look.

Mechanical enhancements over the base model include four-speed automatic transmission with Sequential Sports Shift (SSS) as standard, along with Sports Control Blade Independent Rear Suspension (IRS).

Available in a range of exterior colours, including Winter White, Lightning Strike, Silk, Kashmir, Steel, Vixen, Conquer, Sensation, Ego and Silhouette, the new Falcon SR will also be offered in Breeze and Neo, both of which are not available on Falcon XT.

“The exceptionally high equipment and feature content of the Falcon SR makes it a very compelling value proposition,” Mr Lillie said. “The new vehicle will be on sale this month and given its well appointed specification list is sure to race off dealer lots.”

I'm sure it's a decent vehicle, but it sure looks like a left-over exterior design from the 1990's.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Look at that mid-90s rear spoiler.

Just another model Ford wastes away by giving us the...yawn...Fusion. At least this model has a performance version with some good power. Maybe not the SR, but another trim level that is.

It's an Australian vehicle, and indeed it was quite a good car in the early 2000s, with handling and on road behaviour that is still quite impressive. But design wise and in terms of fuel economy...forget it.

It's the headlights - they are angled a bit just like the A3, A4, A5 and A8.
