2008 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Limited Edition in Australia
Due to the success of the 2007 Portfolio Limited Edition - which was primarily sold before the cars even landed on Australian shores - Jaguar is releasing a second very limited edition XKR Portfolio. The 2008 XKR Portfolio will feature notable additions to the already strong specification of the XKR, which is capable of hitting an electronically controlled top speed of 250km/h and can accelerate to 100km/h in just 5.2 seconds.

The XKR’s already powerful sporting styling cues - an enhanced front bumper, bonnet louvres and aluminum-finish grilles and side power vents will remain and exclusive Shadow Grey exterior paint and 20-inch Selena five spoke alloy wheels in shadow finish featuring red Jaguar “Heritage” center badges add to the overall presence.

The XKR’s interior represents a truly sophisticated yet driver focussed environment thanks to class leading ergonomics, user friendly in-car technology and simple, clear information displays in the instrument panel and main dashboard area. The XKR Portfolio will combine this acclaimed design and performance with Jaguar’s engineering and craftsmanship skills to take the XKR to an even higher level.

Jaguar’s Special Vehicles team has worked alongside leading brake manufacturer Alcon to create the largest, most powerful brakes a production Jaguar has ever carried. This was conceived after extensive testing at Jaguar’s specialist engineering center.

The cabin is characterised by craftsmanship and premium quality materials, from the Alston headlining to the Engine Spin Aluminum veneers. The Softgrain leather upholstery is available in a choice of two exclusive color ways - Warm charcoal with cranberry contrast twin needle stitching, or Ivory and Charcoal with Slate contrast twin needle stitching. The alloy gear selector, with polished metal gearshift surround, is trimmed with leather, and there are leather edged carpet mats and “Portfolio” scripted tread plates.

The XKR Portfolio also features the very special surround sound system from renowned audio entertainment specialists Bowers and Wilkins. Taking Jaguar’s 525W Premium Audio system with Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound as a starting point, Bowers and Wilkins have crafted a signature speaker system specifically for the XKR’s cabin. High-output, low distortion Kevlar mid-range speakers and specially designed aluminum dome tweeters deliver superb mid-range and extended high-frequency responses.

Dorian Lapthorne, General Manager, Jaguar Australia, commented “We received a phenomenal response last year when the XKR Portfolio was released. The specification is quite unique, and very special. It combines breathtaking performance and dramatic beauty with exclusive, individual touches of craftsmanship and equipment that lift it to another level. The XKR Portfolio continues our program our creating exclusive bespoke vehicles for our customers”

To underline the exclusivity of the XKR Portfolio, there will only be 10 units available for sale in the Australian market. All vehicles are in coupe style. The XKR Portfolio will carry a recommended retail price of $246,000 and will be available for sale in July.

That is a hefty price tag for that car. At $246K that is a bit much. I would rather get an SL65 the benchmark GT coupe-roadster on the market today. Also at that price range you could get the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

No one in their right mind would pay that much for a Jaguar let alone an XKR that isn't really that much different.

AUD to USD conversion would be $237,020.93 roughly. $100,000 TOO MUCH!

Wow so someone deboosted me because they would actually pay that much for an XKR. I find the XKR reasonably priced but that 200K + price tag is too much for me. It's in a completely different category.

Counter my comment if you're going to deboost me.

nsmatt and Agent 63

Prices over there are much higher than prices in the U.S. And for comparison, I estimate a new BMW M5 costs about $150k+ there. Maybe more.

246000 AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS.

And how many times do I have to say this?

YOU CAN'T USE A SIMPLE CURRENCY CONVERSION TO WORK OUT THE PRICE OF A CAR IN ANOTHER COUNTRY.

Agent63, you know how much an SL65 is where I live? Well over 300,000 dollars. I expected better of you than to just convert the price.

"Rupert" Exactly the base price of my 650i coupe in the States is somewhere around 72k, in Canada that number jumps up about 20 grand to around 90k.

Currently the Canadian dollar is trading at a higher value than the American dollar & yet still the major mark ups.

A 650i is over 100,000 US dollars in the UK, an M6 about 160,000.
