$38k for a modified economy car complete with a cheap plastic interior, thin body panels and soft paint?

I'll take an "MR" please. They spent the money where they should have and that would be in the engine and suspension. This EXOx walks circles around the 335, IS350 and G37 around a racetrack. It isn't even close. While at the same time the cars mentioned will destroy the EXOx when it comes to interior accommodations and over all build quality. So what it gonna be? I have a hard time deciding between the 335 and the EVO. If the EVO were priced about 5 grand cheaper then it would be a no-brainer for the EVO. But with the current pricing of the EVO? I think the money would be better spent by getting a 135 or a 335. The EVO is coach while the 135 and 335 are first-class.

EVO is a pure sports car . 135 , 335 , g37 , is350 aren`t as good sport cars as EVO on tarmac and gravel . EVO isn`t modified economy car like hothatches , it`s car that with small changes competes in rallying(group N) . of course if you want better plastics and luxury this isn`t car for you but EVO could also be every day car with small compromises . EVO MR isn`t necessary becouse EVO is good becouse of it AWD system , not becouse of it suspension .

I like the MR because of the tranmission. My next car has to have a Dual-Clutch transmission.

Have you actually been in a new evo? The interior really isn't that bad.. It all fits together really well and the materials aren't that cheap feeling. It might not have leather and wood but it's a different kind of nice, you definitely don't feel like you're in a "cheap" car.

Good car but kinda pricey for a Mitsu EVO. No Thanks.

its a race track car, if you have enough disposable income to buy this car and drive it once in a while, chances are you can afford a much nicer track car.

anybody who wouldn't choose a 135 , 335 , g37 , is350 and many other cars is an ass.

but i am a huge fan of this car, i just don't think mistu should be ripping people off for their only good product.

The 335i doesn't stand a chance against the EVO. And only a idiot calles the EVO an economy car.

um, so what? The Evo is a great performance car but most (adult) people (whose favorite movie isn't Fast and Furious) would rather have the 335i.

Automobile Magazine had a writeup a couple of months ago comparing the 335xi, Evo, and STi, and they came to the same conclusion -- all great cars but the 335 is the car you want to own, to graduate to, when you grow up and out of the boy racer phase.

two completely different cars. I would like to see both cars compete in a rally-x course with either making it alive.

OK this might make you feel better. Instead of modified economy car how about Modified Commuter car?

That's not entirely true, JROB. One of my customers had a 2006 E class AMG and he was cross shopping the Evo and STi because he wanted a a really fast car that he didn't have to worry at all about (and this guy is an 50 y/old x DEA agent from Hawaii). I also remember reading an article from car and driver or motortrend that compared much more expensive cars with cheaper versions and they put the 335 against the Evo to have the Evo come out victorious as a "funner" car. Just because you want something exhilarating to drive doesn't mean you're a boy racer.

335i - for those who are boring, lack imagination, no creativity, arrogant, conformist, narrow minded, self-important, think the world is here to serve them, 40-something with wife and three kids (with a mistress on the side), underpay their illegal Mexican/El Salvadorian/Honduran house keeper, used to belong to a fraternity, and member of RNC.

EVO - younger, open-minded, rebel, creative, imaginative, supporter of Obama, blue collar, hard working, better driver, more patient, don't mistreat others, don't think the world is here to serve them :)

The fact that the new EVO is significantly slower than a BMW 135i or 335i is widely accepted even between EVO fans. The new EVO is the same cheap, trashy econobox it was before ...only slower. LOL...
The real question is how can the Germans manage to build a luxury car like the 335i, give it great performance and sell it for less than an underpowered Japanese econobox like the new EVO? How do they do it?
