Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé Preview – 2007 Detroit Auto Show: Rolls-Royce doesn’t manufacture cars.

It hand crafts motorcars. Similarly, the two-door open-air version of the Phantom sedan is no mere convertible, but a drophead coupé. No matter what you call it though, it is a striking automobile to behold. The styling evokes traditions of past Rolls-Royce cars without slumming the retro ghetto. The wood is plentiful, the chrome finishes are mirror-like, and every interior surface that isn’t wood or metal is covered with hides from a small herd of identical cattle. You don’t drive this car, you motor.

It’s likely that 99.99 percent of the people reading this won’t ever come close to buying a Phantom Drophead Coupé. For those that can consider this car, they can be content that they purchased a vehicle that continues a long line of extraordinary Rolls-Royce convertibles. It is also the second vehicle to be developed at Rolls-Royce since BMW took over stewardship of the company in 1998. The rest of us will have to make do with fleeting glimpses.

Drophead coupe is such a pretentious name, but Rolls Royce got even more arrogant after it was bought by BMW.
English snobbery plus German arrogance is not a good thing.

This is a very nice RR's Phantom convertible but I still think the Bentley Continental GT-C look better. If I had this kind of money, I would go with the Bentley Continental GT-C. And I still have money left to spoil myself with.

This RR's Phantom convertible is going to cost probably around $330k plus. For that money I can get the Bentley Continental GT-C which is around $190K MSRP price. And still have enough money to get myself an Aston Martin V8 Vantage at around $120K plus.

I guess it all come down to choice to the lucky few who has this type of money, lucky bastard......

"Lexus," believe it or not, but you're probably underestimating the price on this new beast. The Phantom is already around $330K, and I would be surprised if the Drophead were much under $400,000, if not more. It's like buying a family home, except it's probably larger and requires more energy.

So, you could realistically buy two Continental GTCs. That, or one Continental GTC, an LS600hL and a Range Rover Supercharged. That would be nice.

I have to agree with S4. In fact, if you want the Phantom with appropriate basic options you will spend between $350,000-$360,000.

The Drophead Coupe, which I think is hideous in this shade of blue, will there is no doubt in my mind exceed $400,000

By the Way, after a quick phone call to a nice gentleman at the Rolls Royce dealership who has taken care of some people I know, I have foudn out that the Drophead Coupe starts at $407,000

Actually, I have been thinking about checking out the Newport Coast areas. Yeah! man, it really expansive down there.

El34, hey! you're real estate agent in Irvine right? do you know the history of it? Yeah, I heard suppose it the Irvine family that own that city or something.

I definitely hit you up man for sure if I do decide get a place in the OC areas. If anything it going to in close to beach because I grew up in Hawaii remember.

Irish immigrant James Irvine purchased 110,000 acres that stretched 23 miles from the Pacific Ocean to Portola Springs for $150,000 in 1878 and his son James Irvin Jr. inherited the land and created The Irvine Company and it was mostly farm land until early 1970's when 55,000 acres was dedicated for wildlife and the city started. When the Great Park is finshed which is being built at this time on the old El Toro Marine Air Station the population will grow to around 350,000 people just for the city of Irvine. Lee Harvey Oswald when in the Marines was stationed at that military base where he practised his shooting.

Newport Coast which is an area of the city Newport Beach and happens to border with Irvine on the west side of the 405 freeway.

This car is remarkable. The best of the best in terms of build quality. Supreme luxury at it's best. Great quality and great comfort. I have been in RR's when I was in Hong Kong and the feeling of driving one or riding in one can not be contested by other luxury brand makers(even Bentley).

Anyways, Newport beach/Laguna beach that area is very nice. EL34, how much for a place generally in that area? I was also thinking of buying a place in Arcadia, CA. How much is a 3-4000sq feet home in those areas?
