2009 Acura TSX & European Honda Accord: Official Teaser Images
Honda just released a set of teaser images featuring the all-new European Accord which will make its premier at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show in March. Moreover, since the current European market Accord and the US Acura TSX are one and the same, the EU version of Honda’s mid-size sedan consequently also previews the next generation TSX... FWD as before, Correct? Meaning that the rumored TSX coupe will be FWD not RWD like it was suspected to be.

i don't see anything wrong with this vehicle being a fwd car. i mean honda has come a long way by just offering fwd vehicles, with the exception of few.

sure higher acura vehicles like the TL/RL could benefit from rwd...but for the TSX this shouldn't be an issue as it will most likely have either the i4/i4D or a 250-260hp v6

How come when G35's V6 can rev to 7500 rpm and TSX only revs to 7000?

r15mohd, I hate FWD cars. They have torque steer and boots on CV joints that eventually crack and are complicated to replace. Give me a RWD with LSD any time. Also, if you want to adapt AWD to a FWD architecture, you end up with a couple of extra right angle couplings to get the power from the transversely mounted engine to the rear axle. FWD was adopted by the auto industry as a cost-cutting measure as it allows the entire engine and transmission module to be inserted into the engine bay in a single step during manufacturing. The auto industry has hardly ever shown any concern for its retail customers -- short-sighted auto execs are focused on short-term profits and not the long-term survival of the company. In the meantime, customers have been getting smarter and are abandoning technically inferior brands.

So...

Yet another 'badge engineered' JDM Accord.

I'm sure it'll find a market, but it won't be with me!

WOW. Those gauges are a clear copy of the ones in the Mercedes CLK/CLS/E-Class.

If they brought the tourer to the US with the diesel, I'd consider one. Sure, the wagon wouldn't be too popular in the US, but I'd love one.

Here's a question I've always had. Why does Europe get the TSX as an Accord, when we have something completely different? Does honda not think the larger Accord (US) would sell well in Europe, or that we would not buy a smaller car?

U.S. Accord will not sell well in Europe. European's have small streets and prefer their smaller cars, like Smart and Mini. Europe's Accord (U.S. TSX) does not sell well in America as a large volume product, since American's like everything large and supersized.

I'm sure its been done before, but I just don't know where, but those dials on the speedometer anchored on the outside rather than at the center seem pretty cool and unique.

I don't think this will be exactly like the new TSX. I don't think they'll offer a wagon in the U.S.

I would be very surprised if the TSX was not a sedan version of this tourer...very little changes - the Sports4 was a golden opportunity to move in a new direction in design language, instead we get a warmed over Euro Accord, zzzzzzzzzz........ ........dullsville....

I was hoping for an amazing change and I am already losing faith as the tail lights are goofy. They remind me of a Jetta. As much as Jetta lovers can argue the new Jetta has good handling and a "decent" engine... the car is not a world class sports sedan. This car is gonna be the same ol boring piece of $#%^! on the exterior, nice interior (but not world class) and average drive train.

As much as I like honda/acura reliability I have a feeling I'm gonna be forkin over the extra bucks for something European.

I always liked the design of the TSX/Euro Accord - tasteful, elegant, modern. But the Sports4 moved the game on, what will actually come out to replace the TSX seems like it will be a mild rehash...

oh and btw, whether you like Hondas or not, calling their engines 'average'? Granted, they are not as cutting edge as they used to be, but Honda is first and foremost an engine company and its engines can be favorably compared with the best in the world.
