2009 Audi R8 allocation sold out, 2009 Audi models see price hike
The 2009 Audi R8 allocation has already sold out despite a price increase of $3,500 than the outgoing model. There is currently an 18 month waiting list for the R8 which now starts at $113,700 for the manual version - the automatic starts at $122,700.

Audi of America spokesman Christian Bokich says that Audi produces 25 units of the R8 per day building approximately 6,000 units per year. “Bokich said that customer’s don’t car whether the 2009 allocation is sold out as long as they eventually get their hands on one “Customers are less focused on the model year,” he said.

I saw the Audi R8 several time last month in Irvine, CA, it was "Gorgeous", love the HID lights.

Good job and Congratulation Audi and it Engineering team. And I also saw the new Audi S4 yesterday, it was gorgeous as well.

Lexus,

Do you have any idea when the S4 will be sold in the U.S? That is really the car I would like to buy - either the sedan or the Avant.

Where is amazinbimmer at a time like this? I'm sure he would be thrilled about the 18-month waiting list on an Audi! :-)

I have an R-tronic in inventory and you're right, the shifts are really hard at low speeds, uncomfortably so, but the higher the RPM, the smoother the shift. Sticking the throttle right before completing the shift makes it a little better, but it's still a neck-snapper. The 6-speed is butter smooth. Stick shift all day long.

sorry, wrong spot.

AmazinBimmer isn't around. He's attending the grand opening of the sickest BMW club ever.

At least you're not bashing every car maker and saying Lexus is the best in the world wide world like some trolls. So I respect your comments. No worries! =)

New S4 cannot be out yet. Quattro GmBh would never release a S/RS model before the standard model was released. The new S4 should make its debut at Paris or Frankfurt this year and then go on sale in the US in early 2009. But it should be worth the wait with the new TSFI 6.

Lexus,

Thanks for the info on the new S4. I live in Richmond, Virginia by the way. I spoke to my Audi dealer, and they say that what you saw were probably "test models" that are being driven around the U.S. so that the car can be fine-tuned prior to going on sale. For instance, my salesmen drove a test-model R8 in the Arizona desert prior to the car's U.S. debut.

My salesman says he has received no official word as to when the S4 goes on sale here. However, Audi customer service claims that the S4 will be released at about the same time as the regular A4.

I guess the bottom line is - the S4 will get here when it gets here. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks again for the info.

is the auto tranny worth the extra 10K than regular manual?

From what I have read and heard, the automatic is fine if you are running flatout - quick, smooth shifts. However, for everyday driving the shifts are slow and jerky.

I wish Audi would put their DSG or S Tronic or whatever they call their dual-clutch transmission in the R8. It can handle the R8's 319 ft-lbs of torque handily, and works well in both sane and insane driving situations.
