2009 BMW 7-Series Scooped In Spain
Despite the fact the 7er was undergoing tests in heavy disguise, it is apparent that BMW’s new top sedan will dump the current model’s extravagant or as non-designers call it, gargoyle looks, for a more elegant and dare we say, sporty design. From what we learned, the all-new 7-series will be released sometime during the 2008 calendar year, arriving in the market as a 2009 model Read Article

The current big BMW makes the LS460 look like a Camry and when this 2009 7-Series comes out the Lexus will look like a Corolla in comparison.

BMW #1

Who cares about the LS? Lexus isn't even in the same league. An M-B S Class or Audi A8 would be a better comparo.

I love the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
I love the Audi A8.
I love the Lexus LS460.
I love the Jaguar XJ.

There, I said it. But where's the BMW 7 Series? IT NEEDS A REDESIGN. It's cheap on the inside, aging on the outside and not that impressive dynamically when you can get so much more luxury in an A8 or S-Class with only a minor performance expense. BMW had better not mess this one up.

Actually, the current 7-Series is little more than BMW's answer to the aesthetically ill-fated (BRUNO 1990-1996) MB S-Class, which was pretty much a Whale On Wheels!

By the time the (current) 7-Series went through development, the S-Class had become far sleeker/less ungainly (1997-2006).

Sure looks like BMW's playing it safe this time around... GOOD MOVE!

no actually the 1990-1996 s class was competition for the previous generation s class, but im assuming you would have known better than that since the new mbody s class came out in 00, not 1997, and the 7 series which competes with that model came out in 02.....and not just that BMW has sold more of the car you call ungainly the much more conservative car that it replaced, and if BMW is safe with this car that will mean it will look alot like the current generation not a much more conservative desighn

Yes, bmwdrvr, it won't be a different design- it will be very similar to the current model, for better or for worse.

However, the W220 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was introduced in 1998 and went on sale in 1999. I know someone who had a '99 S430... but traded it in for a Quattroporte a couple years ago.

Actually my father, a die hard Merc driver, ordered his 1998 S500 in 1997, and that's why I went with that date.

Anyway...

Simply because a vehicle sells more than the one before it is no measure of greatness, I find it more a direct reflection of people having too much disposable income and very bad taste!

I current design is awesome and if the next generation adds CS Concept styling, it will be as well.

S Class is for a different type of driver. More of the Lexus LS type.

S-Class and LS drivers are actually quite different. The S-Class and 7 Series are more commonly cross-shopped.

I like the 7 series one of the best looking sedans on the market, that said I would not take any advice from any audi/vw owners

I would not listen to any advice from any Lexus or Audi owners, lexus and audi products do not have any depth, they are just rebadged mass production cars, toyota and vw.

Larry that is a great outlook. Just simply ignore the brand that has been most reliable for almost two decades and the company that has taught the world over how to design their interiors.
