it's a photoshop, and it's not even a good one. Look at the way the hood ends waaaaaay before the twin kidney grills. That would never make it on the 7, the hood will likely run down to the front bumper cover as it does on the current car and the X5/X6 (and previous generation everything else). And every new model BMW makes where the grills aren't part of the hood, the hood at least touches the top of the kidney grill to eliminate that hood line. The only exception is the Z4, because of that shark snout it has. Even then the hood starts across directly in line with the headlights, which it doesn't here.

This is not what the car is going to look like.

Actually the Bangle era produced the worst designs possibly ever. The current 5 ugly and tasteless to a degree unrivaled for at lest the last 50 years.

Even though I know you're full of $h!t, since no one, I mean NO ONE could be as stupid as you sound in your posts, once I again I took the liberty of fixing your post for you:

"toyota has got to be kidding themselves if they think they can compete with the BMW 7, the benchmark in its class. The current ls is completely destroyed by the 7 except in quietness but nobody cares about that since it is just marketing."

Madipa, the 7-Series might be behind some of the competition at this point but let's give credit where credit is due. The 7-Series debuted in 2002 and is now by far the oldest car in the class. A totally new one comes out in six months. But when that 2002 7-Series came out it completely revolutionized the class. There had never been anything like it, and you can thank BMW and the 7-Series for eventually resulting in the 2006 S-Class, 2008 LS, etc. The styling cues, the "one knob for all controls", the interior layout -- just look how much of the 2002 7-Series has now been adapted by other manufacturers. Love it or hate it, the fact is that was an influential car. Regardless of how you might feel about the car six and a half years into its seven year model cycle, there's no arguing that fact.

I wouldn't say "by far." It's only a year older than the A8.

But otherwise, I agree. (-;

No, that is a factpinion. You're welcome to it, but you'd be wrong if you believe it.

After six plus years on the road, it's still the car to beat when it comes to driving dynamics, and clearly impresses the competition (and toylex) the way they copy it.

100% a photoshop. The front end is all wrong, and some of the rear quarter proportions look off as well. Not that I've seen it for real or anything... *wink*

It could be real, not withstanding the poor front end, because of the new Euro auto pedestrian standards. These force auto makers to raise the front-end of the car a few inches. Look at the MBenz C-class for an example. MBenz wouldn't have designed the front end that way had they not been forced to by the Euro bureaucrats

It's why wrap-around headlights are so popular - they disguise the added nose length which is there to cushion pedestrians.

That 7 series (the pic) looks much better than the current but still a bit bland and less stylish than the new competitors. Side vent/light, front bumper is too plain.

Interesting they have pushed the kidney grill right out to the front. That explains the hood line and they probably need plastic for at least the first few inches to meet pedestrian impact standards in Europe. Also explains the kinda flat/fat nose. Not sure I am going to end up liking this one. No CS impact on this design unfortunately. Maybe it was too far along in the design process to make major changes or something? On the Bangle era cars... I have an E39 M5 that I have owned for over 5 years and love the looks... brute in a suite kinda... but the new M5 has really grown on me over the years especially in the darker colors that hide the trunk cut line. It is a distinctive car that should well wear visually over time as opposed to the jelly bean look of many other luxury cars out there. The tend to look really old quick as opposed to sharper/creased designs. A clean E36 M3 can look very nice even today but many other competitors tend to look really dated IMHO.
