2009 Cadillac CTS Coupe - Spy Shots
The latest spy shots of the production 2009 Cadillac CTS Coupe are in, allowing us to take a closer look at the changes it takes to bring the concept into reality. And fortunately, from the looks of it, there aren't too many of them. As we stated previously in our First Look at the CTS Coupe Concept, everything in front of the A-pillar will be standard production CTS fare. That means slightly subdued fenders with a smaller, less pronounced side vent, a smaller hood bulge (the larger show version may return for the all-but-certain-to-follow CTS-V Coupe), a tamer front bumper and ground effects, and the CTS sedan's headlamps and foglamps. Also as we predicted, the production Coupe does necessitate a B-pillar, and it may be a bit more prominent than we had anticipated, where as the show car featured just a narrow strip between the two pieces of glass.

Most of the good stuff has remained, just as we said it would. This car retains the sculpted waistline, Corvette-style hidden door releases, flat backlight, and aggressive profile of the show car -- good news as far as we're concerned. We hear that the beefy-looking show car exhaust system will remain intact as well, though it's hardly visible in these photos.

We can't wait to start seeing some CTS-V Coupe images to see how GM manages to hide its 550 horsepower, supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 in the engine bay. But until then, we can rest assured that GM has been able to take the best from the CTS Coupe Concept and successfully transfer it to production.

i think a v6/v8 combo would be good...like with a5/s5, with the 320hp northstar and the base v6 as engine choices

bmwdrvr, I'd like to go a bit further and make the Northstar the standard engine for all Cadillacs. I hate market differentiation within specific car brands.

I agree. If I were buying a cadillac I'd want a V8. But the CTS-V is a little over the top, something in between would be nice with around 350 hp

the CTSV for the one here that doesnt know doesnt have a northstar V8, but thanks for trying to be smart and not so much...again i mean make the CTS coupe a grand tourer in the mold of the A5/S5 v6, v8 combo, and than a high performance variant ctsv vs rs5. This car seems to perfect for the northstar V8,

I can see this being a popular alternative to the 3 series coupe or A5. This car is for those who like Cadillac but purchase a 3 series coupe, G37, and etc. because no domestic brand really has anything to compare with. I'm sure it'll have a very competitive price set to take on it's rivals too to make it more of a reason to get one.

maybe so but the A5 one isnt a popular choice in the segment its a new one, the G37, ClK, and 3 series are the main cars in this class. Realistically the CTS wont be as nimble or quick as the g37 or 3 series because its not in sedan form with the same power. So why not make it more of a small GT like the CLK and A5, they both seem more like what a CTS coupe would be like, not a car to go head to head with the 3 series and G37, and a V8 would fit the character of this car a large rear drive coupe from Cadillac why would it not get a V8 grand tourer treatment the northstar doesnt get bad epa ratings either

I'd like a 50 mile per gallon V-6 clean-diesel and the magnetic ride control struts in the 2009 CTS.

it should be pretty nice looking, but it wont be as stunning as the concept car was. I just hope they dont round it out too much.

Lengthen the rear deck by about 3" by shorting the C-pillar, please, so it doesn't have that pseudo-sport hatch look to it any longer.

When was the last time a luxury sport hatch was truly successful? Then consider the fact that we aren't looking at a European vehicle here, but an American one.

To me, that's a chance that Cadillac and more to the point, GM, can't afford to take.

...Do your homework please, this vehicle is not a "hatch"...

get it right: the cts is NOT a 3 series competitor. its a 5 series competitor which makes this hideous car a 6 serious competitor
