Cadillac CTS-V.

It offers a new level of capability for performance sedans on the track, but especially on the road. In both environments it’s amazing fast, but also exploitable. Think of it as a ZR1 that you can drive people around in, that looks way classier and that you’ll actually be able to push to its limits, and you won’t be far off. Cadillac inevitably compares it to cars like the BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG, but starting at “around $60,000” it’s considerably cheaper; with a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds it’s considerably faster and it’s also considerably more involving. I’d compare it to the more closely priced BMW M3 Sedan, which may have a slight edge on precision, but is also shy 142 HP and 256 lb-ft, while the CTS-V only weighs 474 pounds more.

GM compares it to the M5. Because it is basically the same size as the M5. People just don't realize it. You have to see them side by side.

The interior fit and finsh of the new CTS is nothing short of spectacular. Now it has the whoomph to go with it.

This would be the first time I've ever lusted after a Caddy.

I can hear it now if the bmw had 556 hp it would be better or gm still is crap. Well i say 1 the bmw doesnt have it and the cts-v smokes it in performance,price,and interior. So lets save the bs none open minded fan boy posters the time and energy of their stupidity. Oh i love the end of the article GM has 2 of the best performace cars out ZR1 and this. Finally american cars to go after.

Lest we forget the idiots that think high discplacement, pushrod engines are garbage. Afterall, the M5 gets such great gas mileage and has tons of power @ 7,500rpm....the range where every daily driver wants to be. The CTS-V owns the M5 in just about every regard.

I jus can't see how can you compare a 5 year old car (BMW M5) with a brand spanking new one (CTS-v)...makes no sense!

There's no doubt that the new M5 will eat THIS cts-v alive, when it comes out in few years. But for now, CTS-v sholuld by all means be faster than M5.

Here we go again. I heard exactly the same praise for the old CTS-V a few years back, now the car is considered junk and sells for pennies. It will not take long for this CTS-V to FAIL. Hype cannot make up for bad engineering. Same goes for the GT-R and $100k Corvettes.
When will this idiots learn that when it comes to car engineering Europe is the only answer?
Are they not tired to see themselves fail again and again and again? I guess not...

You fail. You could not have heard praise regarding the old cts-v because NOT a single pubication or journalist praised it. Back then, i was in the market for a sports sedan, so i read almost every online and print publication regarding the 1st generation CTS-V. There was nothing but complaints from pro drivers about not being able to achieve the claimed 0-60 time, to horrible axle hop which and shoddy interior. That put me off from purchasing one instantly. I was not born in America but i think its safe to safe this is a world beater. Ive personally driven the new CTS with the 3.6 engine(Direct ingection), and the interior was beautiful, way more fun then my 335i. Build quality was top notch and this car does the Slalom at over 70 miles an hour, so WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???? for around 60 thousand dollars to get a car that looks like that, does the quarter at around 12.4, outbrakes and outhandles ANY sport sedan currently sold, how did you come to your biased, preconcieved conclusion?

that sounds like a lie.....because if you honestly felt that way about the CTS , you would have bought one instead of the competition,...not to mention other than a few idiots here and there...no one has trashed this car at all, yet you people are trouncing negative comments around about other cars as if someone is bashing the CTS or CTSV I have seen nothing but mostly praise for either....grow up

Who was your statement directed to? If it was to me then you misread my comment. I was comparing the old cts with the new generation. I was pointing out that star was a blatant liar because she stated that "I heard exactly the same praise for the old CTS-V a few years back" and i said that it was impossible becuase there no positive articles aobut the old one. Then i said all those positive things about the 2nd generation not the first. Re-read what i wrote.

hate to bust your bubble but you can pay over 100k for a S class and 4 years later it's only worth 30-40 thats some serious depreciation. Don't believe me, look up the sales prices of a 4 yr old S. Oh, by the way, I own one. I was smart enough not to buy one new.

This is really incredible.

The only thing that looks cheesy is the grille. They should have kept the stock CTS front-end--which is probably the absolute best looking Cadillac EVER.

I think they shouldve replace those foglamps as cooling ducts for the wheels...replace them with some wired mesh instead. To me thats the only cheesy part.

But overall, the car looks great!

Beautiful! Star you need to learn to appreciate other cars. It would be so nice if you were an enthusiast. Its like when you have a beautiful woman and another one passes by thats beautiful as well, but different than yours. You shouldn't try to find things wrong with her because you already have a woman. To me, cars are like women. They're beautiful and I can find beauty in most evene though it may not be the one that i drive. I just find it hard to believe that someone actually could hate all other cars except their own.

Looks like GM has a winner here. The track time at the "ring" is quite impressive. I would buy this over the current M5, which I have driven several times and come away disapointed.
