2009 Cadillac CTS-V to produce a total of 567-hp
Chevrolet announced the official power rating for the 2009 Corvette ZR1 this week at 638-hp and 604 lb-ft of torque. That’s 18-hp and 9 lb-ft over the original specs released at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.

Now what’s interesting is the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V shares major components with the ZR-1 such as the supercharged 6.3 liter small-block V8, except with a smaller Eaton compressor. The CTS-V is even known as Caddy’s ZR1 sedan.

Cadillac says that the produces 550-hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. According to InsideLine, if Cadillac is working the same way as Chevrolet is, the 550-hp of the CTS-V will...

When are you people going to realize that Many American cars have gotten better. Who cares who it beats just respect the strides Cadillac and other american car companys have made recently. I'll be the first to tell you i used to hate American cars, but you have to recognize the improvements.

Maybe it doesn't float your boat but if I had the money, I would for sure! I settled for an almost loaded 08 CTS4 instead :)

Why author of that article thinks that CTS-V will be competing with M5 and E63? Isn't it of size of 3-series and C-class?

Actually, according to Cadillac's website, the CTS' competitors are the 5 series and E class (even though it doesn't offer a V8 on its non high-performance model yet).

Cadillac's new entry level sedan will compete with the 3 and C just like the new single replacement for the STS/DTS will compete with the 7 and S.

The CTS is closer to the 5 and E-class. This horsepower, for a Caddy, is unexpected and unholy. Hell, I love my Bimmers, but I have to admit that 567 horsepower is nothing to sneeze at. It will definitely be a monster in the straights, and I can only imagine the full-throttle torque coming out of a corner. Can you say oversteer? This thing is going to be great fun and will have a lot of swagger and street cred. What Eurosedan in its class will run it, stoplight-to-stoplight?

Thanks Cadillac! Im definitely planning to check one out. You'd have to be on tar heroin to buy a Lexus IS-F over this thing.

Enough said. It is still a Cadillac. In the 80s they promised changes for the better, in the 90s they said they will deliver the right product, now they say they are closer and better. Well, you know what? I bought 3 Cedillas over the years and each one was a disaster. I bought one MB (93 500E) and I still have it. In 1989 I bought a Lexus LS400 and after 350K miles was sold last year for 6K (perfect condition). I bought a 98 BMW 323 convertible for the wife and she is still driving it as daily driver and she still gets compliments about how good her car looks. I bought a 2003 BMW 540 Sport and I will never sell it, because it is an amazing car to drive at any speed in any road. I am sick and tired of waiting for Cadillac or any other American manufacturer to even come close to the quality and performance of these cars. I am paying good money and I want to reward the brand that offers innovation, engineering, performance and the ability to be a leader instead of a follower. Today, any manufacturer has the ability to make a car go fast. Only a few have the ability to make it last and provide enjoyment at the same time.

^^^you obviously need to buy a pair of glasses and take a hard look at the CTS sedan...A lot has happened since 1989...GM has even won Engine of the year with it's 7 liter race engine for the Corvette C6 R ( I believe that was 2006)

This thing is awesome. Its so annoying all the blind loyalists out there who can't appreciate a great car when the see one because it doesn't have their badge.
