We're just a few weeks away from seeing it in person at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, but here is the first real look at the Lexus LF-Ch Compact Hybrid Concept in this official photo from Lexus. I like how they have made it look coupe-like by hiding the rear door handle. What are your thoughts on the car?BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept Photo Gallery2009 Frankfurt Auto Show Photo Gallery2009 Concours Weekend Photo Gallery Live! The rear door design with the lack of a visible door handle (probably integrated into that black plastic part) is reminiscent of the Alfa Romeo 156. The door handles look like they came from an Alfa Romeo 159!— ErichHartmann (View Profile)

And it has wheels! Just like the Alfa 8C did!I bet they even stole the concept of there being a "seat" for the driver, just like the Spider had.I'm sure Lexus will even refer to it as a "car" too. Those bastards!— answer (View Profile)

wasn't toyota planning on selling a yaris-based hybrid toyota? wouldn't that just completely defeat the purpose of this?the yaris already gets pretty good mileage already. what makes anyone think that a rebadged yaris with heavier electronics (battery, secondary motor) will be worth anyone's time and money? who the heck wants to drive this slow pos? stay the hell away from this in my opinion.lexus has never once sold a compact or near compact in its 20 year existence. why is toyota diluting the brand? it certainly looks like toyota is getting real desperate now.— validus00 (View Profile)

Lexus doesn't really "need" this car. Toyota could just leave Lexus right where it is with no sub-premium hatches like the rest of Europe. However, Lexus wants to be everything that the Euros are, enter this LF-Ch. It's not really diluting the brand, it's taking the Lexus brand into newer demographics just like the small cars from the Euros. Agent009 made an entire article out of how Lexus can attract customers who aren't old, and here it is. Throw some diesel engine options on this and Lexus will gain a strong foothold in Europe.— Anthony (View Profile)

lexus isn't going diesel...don't know why everyone thinks this should be their intention.they are clearly ahead of the game in the hybrid sector and will surely continue to exceed and provide dominantly in that market— r15mohd (View Profile)

regarding the design - Not exactly my cup of tea, but it seems as if hatchback's are in style for the foreseeable future.Regarding the hybridization of everything - Silly. These types of mild hybrids aren't worth the added cost. All they do is let the driver proclaim that they are green to the rest of the world while they burn fossil fuel at a very un-green rate. — thstone (View Profile)

Here is the 411, the Matrix factory is not going to be making Vibes anymore so they will add this to take up the slack. YEA it looks cool, but remember it will be a vague feeling vehicle in all ways because it is still a Lexus. I am sure this thing will be a big hit with grey hairs.— rigid (View Profile)

Didn't Lexus do a really similar concept back in the early 90s? It was a 2-door, and I think had '4200' in its name. Back then it seemed weird that a luxury maker would propose a small hatchback.Does anyone else remember it?— aaspiridis (View Profile)
