2009 HONDA CIVIC CONCEPT
These images are of possibly the next Honda Civic. The biggest change will be the diesel engine option. The new car will be much larger, about as big as the previous model Accord. The next Civic will have a 140-hp, 1.8-Liter, 16-Valve SOHC i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine,5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. The price will be upped about $25,000-$34,990 for the Diesel.

More information will appear soon. Expect to see the 2009 Civic Concept at NAIAS 2008. And see at showrooms late 2008, as a 2009 model.

Thats a 3 year old accord concept, and the civic won't get a new model until 2011.

problem 1.
"The new car will be much larger, about as big as the previous model Accord."

probably because it is a concept of an accord!

problem 2.
"The next Civic will have a 140-hp, 1.8-Liter, 16-Valve SOHC i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine,5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission."

these specs are from the current model Civic. see for your self: http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-sedan/

just curios how the 140hp motor is an issue, i 1993 integra with an original non-VTEC DOHC 1.8L motor; 5spd that averaged 30mpg daily driven. with the iVtec technology, this car can well get 35-40 easily.

yes that's the years old Honda Sports 4 Concept, it was first ruomored to be the New Accord (that didn't happen) now some say it'll be the European Accord.

Hopefully this is true as that's one awesome looking Concept.

$25K-$30K for a Honda Civic? It's time we all get back on our bicycles.

Speaking of which, walking into the airport today I spied the new Mitsubishi Lancer in that rich red press color. It looked stunning. Yes, I would have one, if I were looking there.

This article is the biggest mistake for a title that I have seen on Autospies. The car pictured is supposed to be the redesign of the Acura TSX. Why would Honda make the Civic the same size as the last gen. Accord? and with only 140hp? That car would probably take 10 secs. to reach 60.

Toyota actually copied, this is an old concept that came out before the current Camry...BMW? Where? I don't see it...maybe one of the 1st gen Audi A4's....

Really misinformed, whoever posted this, just like everybody has said...

Old, and not a Civic.

Might be the next TSX though.

Fastonekiller. I agree with you. I don't know what's going on now a days when the new Evo is going for $39,000. But I guess inflation and with the dollar dropping precipitously, it's no surprise at all.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone!

LOL, this is a joke, pure BS. Nobody is stupid enough to buy a Civic for $35,000 just because it has a diesel in it. You can get a Civic hybrid for 25 that is the same or better than a diesel.

This will be the TSX.

Here we go again, it 4 has tires and some doors, therefore it copied BMW. Gee, I suppose from the front it doesn't resemble an RL in the slightest?
I'm surprised no one is complaining that they excluded the "Hoffmeister kink" that was lifted off the Americans from the 40s.

So I'm just crazy thinking the above rear-picture looks like a 2001 Euro Accord Hatch then?
http://www.brams.co.uk/images/honda_Accord_2.0_Vtec_se_black_01_Y_rear_2.JPG
Call me crazy, but the rear-pic looks like a TSX with a more pronounced trunk lip.

Unfortuantely, recent spy pics (check vtec.net) have shown that the Sports4 was just a concept. The new TSX seems like it will be much dowdier than this concept

Honda should really stop focusing on the redesigning of the civic every couple of years and focus on making a new S2000, bringing new cars (like the New MDX and the newer Civic) to the Australasia region and stop making civics! How hard can it be to focus on perhaps another vehicle in the Honda lineup? Obviously very. It isn't as if the Honda Civic is that breathtaking anyway.
