2009 Jaguar XKR-S: the fastest production XK to date

Along with the 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio, Jaguar announced the fastest production XK to date, the XKR-S. Built on a highly-advanced lightweight aluminum body architecture, the Jaguar XKR-S is powered by the same 420hp 4.2 liter V8 supercharged engine found in the XKR.

However, the engine has been recalibrated allowing the XKR-S to reach a top speed of 174mph, 19mph faster than the XKR. This additional boost performance is made possible by improved aerodynamics and a unique suspension set-up. The engine is mated with the XKR’s six-speed sequential automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts.

I give Jaguar a ton of credit for improving performance by lowering weight (instead of the usual big increase in horsepower). However, for this car to play with the badboys like the M6, CLS63, or 911, I feel like it really needs 500hp.

agree completely. weight saving and boosting the power to about 500 bhp will the ideal way to move ahead.

This car looks awesome, and in the portfolio edition has the interior quality to match maseratis. This car is almost as beautiful as the Gran Turismo.

beautiful car, but I'd have to take the Maserati. Aside from being at least as beautiful as the Jag outside (and more beautiful inside), it has that Ferrari engine. There's no sound like a Ferrari engine. I'd buy the car just for the sound.
