Mazda 6 is already on sale here in Middle East for more than 2 months now. Nice car, in person looks even better.
Mazda 6 is front wheels drive. It's available here in Middle East with 2 engine options. 2.0-litre 147BHP and 2.5-litre engine 170BHP. Price starts at Dhs 62800(US$17100).
Altima, Accord, Camry are considered bigger and better than the Mazda 6 here in Middle East because they are more pricier, comes with 6 cylinder options and are way more popular . So it's direct competitors are Ford Mondeo, Hyundai Sonata, Chevrolet Epica...etc.
Poor marketing, pathetic after-sales service, poor relibility, ridiculously expensive spare parts and their availibility and limited engine choices doomed the predecessors of this car in many Middle East markets and there are no signs of this too to do well here in Middle East salewise.

For the price of a base Mazda 4cyl, I'll take a smooth V6 Camry. Drop it an inch, add some adjustable monotube shocks and some nice rims with some meaty tires. Now I can out accelerate any non TT BMW 3/1 series and also out handle it all the while getting 31mpg hwy. Probably look better too.

thought the mazda 6 looked strange at first glance. then again , so did the camry. even so, the camry grew on me, and im sure the mazda6 will too. for now, id take it over a malibu, accord, maybe altima; but probably not camry. for now, at least

LMAO....thanks 'boss'. Dumbest, but funniest, sh*t I've read all day. If by some stretch you're serious though, please post pics; I'd gladly use one as my desktop wallpaper, and pull it up when I need another good laugh.

Now, y would u put meaty tires on that? it'll look nice w/ 20's & 35 series tires. I'd get TRD springs for only an inch drop or go full coil over and camber tucked 20's like some folks have on Toyotanation.com.

TheBoss has come up with the dumbest most idiotic statement ever. Is anybody really stupid enough to take a camry over this?????????
TheBoss

DUMB? Lets see:
Camry - more reliable than all Mazda.
Camry - better resale than all mazda
Camry - smooth Toyota built engine.
Camry - the benmark in it's class. Notice Mazda is trying to be another camry?
Camry V6 for price of 4cyl mazda.
Camry is already to get a mid cycle upgrade.
By the time new Mazda6 starts to make any decent sales, brand new Camry model would alreay be out and be much much better than current model.
Mazda V6 - is based of Fords duratec yet cost 4grand more than camry V6.
Camry continues to be the car more america trust most with their hard earn money. Mazda is a gamble.
Only good news for Mazda fans is that in 2 years, a brand new mazda 6 4cyl can be had for 16K through all the Mazda rebates.

In my opinion the Mazda 6 looks nicer then a Camry,Accord and Altima on the exterior. I would have to see in interior close up. However I must say that the Mazda 3's interior is the best looking in it's class. I would not doubt if the 6 looks that way as well. Both it's engines are class competative. It has a lot more flowing design then the other 3.

The gas mileage on the 4 cyl. is pretty pathetic, considering the Toyota Camry V6 with 270hp has an identical rating....just my personal observation.
Although I have to admit, atleast you can get a respectably stylish auto with the 4 cyl., to include 17in. wheels; manual tranny. Stuff you just can't get with a base model Camry.
I never have understood why American automakers(this isn't to say the Camry is American) build their 4cyl model autos to be the ugliest, most undesired pieces of crap, the world over. Whereas in Europe, the only difference between a 4cyl. model and a 6 or 8 of the same line, is the engine; for the most part.

The thing is, it's hard to get a better value than a new Camry V6. Stock is 0-60 5.8 sec (Car and Driver "Fastest Cars under $25,000"). and below $25,000. Then u can have blutooth & Nav. I just wish too many ppl didn' have Camry's. Cuz the V6 is a beast and light modding gets u in IS350 category for acceleration. But too many ppl have a Camry which makes it unnattractive.

The Altima SE (and soon the 6s) blows the camry away in value, features, performance, looks and excitement. Who cares if it supposedly can hit 60 in less than 6 seconds when the timid school teachers and librarians that buy them are too scared to even go the speed limit, let alone race to 60. And its not the fact that so many have them that makes them unattractive; they come that way from the factory, so toyota's to blame for that.

Consumer Reports said the Camry V6 model was unreliable last year. Did Toyota solve the issue this year?

I'm pretty sure they corrected the problem. Ever since they corrected the faulty exhaust valve on my wife's '07 V6 Camry, it's driven like a dream. However, she still despises the vehicle because it was crapping out within the first few months of ownership.
