Citing problems with the service brakes, BMW is recalling 560 MY 2009 JCW (John Cooper Works) and JCW Clubman vehicles equipped with 16-inch diameter front discs (and not the 17-inch ones).
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website, the problem referred to the vehicles that have been equipped with 16-inch diameter front discs, which could lead to a less effective braking if intense brake usage occurs. BMW said that under conditions of intense brake usage, braking performance would be reduced. This defect could possibly lead to a crash depending on traffic and road conditions, as well as driver’s reactions.
