Toyota announced today the unveiling of its new FT-EV Concept at the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), confirming in this way it future plan to launch an urban commuter battery-electric vehicle (BEV) by 2012.

As you can see the new Toyota FT-EV Concept is based on the iQ city car platform which is already a big hit in Japan, due to the fact that it delivers exceptional mileage, sporty performance and a fun, youthful image. The new concept continues the battle for a green environment with its two brother: the 2010 Toyota Prius and the Lexus HS250h.
