2009 Nissan GT-R Deliveries Already Sold 70%
Nissan announced that deliveries of the all-new 2009 Nissan GT-R are scheduled to begin on Monday, July 7, 2008. More than 1,700 of the exotic 480-horsepower GT-R supercars, or approximately 70 percent of the first year allocation for the United States market, have already been spoken for since the announcement of a pre-sale ordering program last January.

The 2009 Nissan GT-R has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)* of $69,850 for the GT-R and $71,900 for the GT-R Premium model. Destination & Handling (D&H) is $1,000. The GT-R is available only through officially certified Nissan dealers that have met a number of strict sales, service and facilities commitments, including dedicating a master technician to GT-R service. A searchable listing of the 671 GT-R Certified Nissan dealers is available to consumers on nissanusa.com.

“After years of speculation and anticipation, the wait for a U.S.-spec Nissan GT-R is over,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “GT-R is one supercar that more than lives up to its promise, with independent testing by the leading auto enthusiasts magazines and online sites producing performance results that only a handful of production cars have ever attained – much less at a $70,000 MSRP.”

A 2009 Nissan GT-R, equipped with a standard 480-horsepower, twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine and advanced 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, recently set a lap time of 7 minutes 29 seconds at the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife, one of the fastest times achieved by a production-spec vehicle to date.

wonder which one will show up on our shores - the 3.5/11.6 cars or the 4.1/12.3 cars.

I wonder that too but honestly it doesn't matter. If they're presold than the car did exactly what it was truly built to do... make money.

Well if 70% are already being sold, maybe it's not so bad of a car

ding ding ding, we have a winner! It only took four comments for some troll moron to bring up BMW for absolutely no reason. Death, taxes, and idiot trolls on Autospies -- the three things you can't avoid in life nowadays...

I'll take the reliability of the Nissan over BMW any day.

When you dig your head out of your @ss and look around, you'll see that nissan and their 'luxury' line sit way down below BMW in vehicle dependability. So take your little nissan....and enjoy taking the bus or bumming a ride when it's in the shop.

As much as I love BMW, you can't say it's more reliable than a Nissan.

This car looks brilliant: remember, if you are trying to get a shape that occupies as little roadspace as possible, yet offers acceptable accomodation and lugagge space, that has to have excellent engine cooling, that needs to offer incredile chassis strength and - most of all - has to be an aerodynamic maasterpiec, then you're going to not be able to do some things. But what Nissan has done is create something just about perfect Cd of .27, which for a car such as this is a mind-boggling achievement.

Well well, that is some impressive sales number. Wonder how ex porsche 997 buyers have responded, since Porsche recently introduced their newest incarnation of Porsche carreras and the turbo will look pretty much the same, particularly i am interested in knowing if any previous Porsche owner of a cayman, or Carreras, or the turbo has switched over to the GTR Godzilla.

very few Porsche owners will switch to hogzilla - the ones that I know are buying it more for curiosity, but certainly not to replace their Porsches (and Ferraris and Lambos, etc). They are buying it as a cheap track car. That's the irony of all this is that GTR fanboys will never drive a GTR because they will be snapped up by those who can afford hogzilla as a beater.

It's not the best looking car but it sure as hell can perform. It's got bang for buck value. Although I would never buy one I have to admit it's a damn quick car. For my liking I would still choose a Porsche for the pure driving experience. Not that Porsche lacks "technology" but the GT-R is too sheltered for my liking.

I can't wait to see one on the road. I wish it had more exotic styling because it deserves second looks. This however won't.

What would the point be of that? Staar isn't "real", his only reason for posting is to stir up arguments. He's like AmazinBimmer only AmazinBimmer actually believes the crap he posts. Staar just does it for effect.
