We just saw the 2009 Porsche Cayman and Boxster at the 2008 LA Auto Show less then a month ago.

Porsche today announced that pricing on both 2009 models has gone up by almost $2,000. The 2009 Porsche Boxster starts at $47,550 while the 2009 Porsche Cayman starts at $51,250.

$10K is a steep premium for "S" but it is the only way to get the much improved DFI engine.

Just more evidence that the Nissan 370Z is one of the best sports/GT values around, since it's 99.9% the performance of these two at 65% the asking price!

Apples and oranges. Both cars represent a good "value" and there's a lot more to a car than performance measurements.

Just as one example of this, no one is able to extract a better handling/comfort ratio than Porsche. On extended trips, the same suspension that handles well in AutoX is reasonably comfortable.

There are lots of small and large things like this that make Porsche worth every penny BUT I'm grateful to Nissan and other companies for keeping the pressure on Porsche because otherwise their greed is without restraint.

so now they make 30,247 per car? that's not enough to offset its sales drop.

IMHO, Nissan really changed the name of the game, an equivalent or even superior performance for less than half the price, sounds like a great bargain to me.

I have a Cayman S as my second car - wouldn't drive anything else. Nothing to do with "Value" - tried the 911 and spec'd my Cayman up so that i could have had a 911 for the price. This car is simply "Amazing" to drive, i have never had so much fun in a car.

Please give me a FREAKIN BREAK, this is what Porsche is known for world wide making performance cars. And now they got the butt handed to them, you said their more to a car than performance measurements".

There's always more to performance than performance measurements, and not just in the area of cars. Otherwise Consumer Reports would have the final say on everything--and we could give up on every engineering refinement that makes machines a pleasure to operate.

Drove the Cayman before buying a 997 while it is a great car it is just too small inside (I'm 6'3" and 200#) as far as the Z, not even in the same class.
