2009 Q5 Leads Audi Assault
According to the article - the Q5 was done completely in house with no input or sharing from Porsche or VW.

"Audi’s Q5 sport/utility vehicle is at the heart of an ambitious new model plan known internally as “Route 15”—adding as many as 15 models to the German carmaker’s ranks by 2015."

Autoweek was told of a big model blitz that is coming down the pipeline.

You are full of beans my friend -- you must have some strange connection to BMW. The Q7 has no competition to speak of and you can get it real cheap if you settle for a potent V6 instead of a pricier V8. I drive a leased A6 and it is probably the best value out there for a city-sized car with a nice comfy interior. I leased it because of the 0.96% lease rate and free scheduled maintenance under a Canada-only marketing program and I swear that all the problems Audi used to have in the eighties are gone now. Try one, you'll like it.

Audi rebadges VWs, Porsche, Lamborghis, what ever they can copy, the brands stands for nothing but a group of losers.

It always amazes me that those that cannot afford any of the brands that you just slammed are bitter about it and cry rebadge, yet knowlegeable enthusiasts with cash do not think of them as rebadge...I am sure Dr. Phil could give us some insight into this phenomenon.

Rebadging today is not like it used to be decades ago when manufacturers simply installed a different grille, did a slight tweak on the interior, and attached a fancier badge to justify a much higher price. Today the industry shares many platforms and engines but delivers much greater incremental value in interiors and content in the higher priced so-called rebadged models. A notable exception is the Ford, Grand Marquis, and Town Car trio which are all basically the same vehicle made to look different with the fancier look fetching the higher price. We should all note that many of the luxury features have now trickled down to cheaper cars so there is no need to overspend on a car these days.

I think I'll get one of this, maybe in a couple years. Q7 is really nice but maybe to big for me, just don't need that extra space.

The one thing that i really liked about Audi was that they didnt jump into the SUV craze, until now that is.
As much as i hate suv's i would still rank the Q7 tops in its category and i have a feeling the Q5 can do the same in its category.
And Audi does not rebadge.

The Q5 should be a nice rig, although I think the rear-end view may take some getting used to.

Its great that VW is letting Audi design on their own, yet take advantage of VW drive-train development (with VW having one of the largest budgets on the planet for car design)

Any word on diesel engines for North America?
