2010 Bmw 7-series receives xDrive AWD and new 740d version

The BMW 7-Series is introducing several new models and accessories to reinforce the success it had in the previous year.

Beside the already existing and new M Sport Pack being offered for all 7-series range for both regular and lengthened wheelbase, an optional xDrive AWD and a new 740d is also offered for the 2010 BMW 7-series.

Set for an introduction in the third quarter of the year, the BMW 740d will feature for the first time a new straight-six diesel powerplant equipped with TwinPower direct injection and twin-turbocharging technologies from the Bavarian carmaker. The 3.0-liter engine is capable of 306hp (225kW) and 442lb-ft (600Nm) of top torque which it can consistently maintain in the engine speed range of 1,500 and 2,500rpm. These figures are sufficient enough to propel the car from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds and quickly reach a top speed of 250km/h which is electronically limited.

Awesome. The diesel seems like a great variant. In Chicago, diesel finally dropped.
AWD has been a long time coming. I understand they couldnt completely change the chassis ansd body last bodystyle in the middle, but at least they are coming out with it now!
I know BMW is global and only a small portion care about AWD, but its nice to have because a lot of wives will feel comfortable driving the vehicle.

Amazing numbers: 200Nm of torque per litre displacement. Even for a diesel, that is an astonishing number. People can complain all they want about BMW's styling direction and some niggling quality issues, but when it comes to engine technology, they once again lead the path for others to follow.
