2010 Buick LaCrosse "sneak peak" in New Buick history video

GM has released a new video of its head of design, Ed Welburn, taking us through Buick’s history and giving us a peak at the 2010 Buick LaCrosse.

The new LaCrosse was originally supposed to make its debut at the 2008 LA Auto Show but had been moved to the 2009 Detroit Auto Show since GM cancelled its LA press conference at the last minute.
From the video (and the screenshots we gathered) you can see that the 2010 Buck LaCrosse retains most of the styling cues shown on the Buick Invicta concept.

Certainly looks interesting, but...

GM, at least in the U.S. might well consider eliminating Buick (as well as Saturn and GMC) as a brand, letting the remaining nameplates absorb their future products.

This would leave Chevrolet (mainstream cars/trucks), Cadillac (luxury) and Pontiac (sporting division) to serve the market more efficiently.

Yes, I'm aware of Buick's popularity in China, but seeing that most Chinese Buick's are little more than re-badged GM (Euro) products anyway, I don't feel its presence in the U.S. market will be missed... At All.

Naa, GM is steering Buick towards the soft-smooth luxury category while gearing up Cadillac to do battle with BMW/Mercedes/Audi/Infiniti.

I like the direction GM is steering Cadillac/Buick. Buick is finally starting to be attractive (god.. those hideous boats they had just a few years ago were ghastly).

I hate to see pontiac/saturn go. I've always prefered pontiac/saturn over chevy's b/c in the past, chevy's were less attractive.

Also, if Buick were dropped in the USA, the Chinese buyers would be turned off. Why would the Chinese buyer want a Buick when Americans wouldn't even consider one.

Also, I just would like to point out that GM & Audi seem to be the most avid users of direct-injection. Good Job GM, the public doesn't notice the greatness of DI, but the increases in power, torque & fuel economy make Direct Injection one of the most cost-effective technologies on the market.

Unfortunately, the morons in the media & in congress only recognize hybrids as high-tech. I wish our country had more engineers running the show.

I hope they ditch the LaCrosse name. On top of the fact that it apparently has dubious cannotations in Canada, where Lacrosse is the national pass time, it just sounds wrong in these our modern times.
