The High Performance Vehicle Operations (HPVO) of GM, the department responsible for their top sports cars such as the Cadillac ‘V-series’ and Chevrolet ‘SS’ models, is going to be shut down. This move sent ripples of concern in performance circles who believe that GM’s present and future performance vehicles could meet their end here including the 2010 Camaro SS.

GM, however, allayed concerns with regards to the Camaro SS stating that cars like this and also like the Corvette ZR1 and Corvette Z06 are regularly engineered and do not go through HPVO. These cars are not in the list for cancellation, GM explained. Other models, particularly the CTS-V and other performance saloons are part of the CTS lineup and they will continue to show in the imminent future.
