2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport priced at $55,720! Is this the right price?

The official pricing for the Grand Sport package has been released.

Contrary to what was initially thought the pricing is not that high. For instance, the Grand Sport gives a $55,720 price tag for its coupe, and for its convertible it gives $59,530.

These are a $6,205 and $5,360 increase in pricing, respectively. However, the Grand Sport pack basically precludes a need for the $1,695 Z51 package, so the $3,500-$4,500 boost goes to the retuned suspension, a wider body posture, Z06 stopping system, enhanced acceleration, and external and custom advantages.

I'm ordering one. Been wanting a Z06 but didn't want to give up the targa top option on my Z-51. This is my solution. The car is outstanding. This is coming from someone that has owned everything from Stuttgart for the last 20 years and a few from Maranello in the 90's. AND I get to save $100k over similar imported performance.

Let's not be hasty any new 2009+ Ferrari will spank this thing! Now to beat it with a Porsche you have to spend 120 for a well equipped GT3. That is only 60 Grand more then this thing. If you have the "Means" you will always be better off purchasing the European car. They are after all...So Choice! But hey if you are an owner of a few pizzaria's and maybe a tanning salon any bloke can get themselves this Chevy for Cheep!!!

Spank. Not really. The performance gap is smaller than ever on the base car. Z06 or ZR1? We know who gets spanked. I agree with your points on preference money no object. I decided to take my Euro depreciation hit for my daily driver. The car that gets driven maybe once a week I won't tie a lot of money in any more. I think they have done a great job with the car not to mention (5) 24 hour wins.

UMM No. That was another pleasant surprise with my 2005. After 5 years it is still worth 60% of initial price. Real money. Small entry= small depreciation. You want to talk depreciation. Go buy an S65. After five years depreciation you jost lost $150k. I have experience in depreciation. Another reason I love this car.

Topically Chevy's Lose 1/3 their value every year, In contrast a Ferrari will appreciate in value the first year because there is a 1-2 year waiting list for the car. Therefore you can "Get it Now" used instead of waiting a year. The Porsche GT3 hold's its value much better than a "regular 911." It is more of a niche vehicular and more desirable and will only lose 15-20% of it's value the first year as typical GT3 owners drive the car under 10,000 miles a year.

Thats BS read above. Tell that to the owner of an 05 F430 who paid $250k and now it's $150k all day long. $100k in 5 years. Compared to $20k on the Corvette. If you have the money to burn sure.... I would like one too. I've wasted my depreciation dollar on my daily driver. Why should I lose $100k on a car I drive once a week. It took me a while and a lot of money to figure that one out.

Vonbeeler, let me ask you a question. Haven't you realised by now that Pennfootball is an idiot? Quit going toe-to-toe...or should I say toe-to-ass with him (because you are really kicking his ass with the facts, LOL!). Any auto enthusiast worth his salt (as the old saying goes) knows what an amazing vehicle the Corvette is. There is NOTHING this side of US$100k that gives you what the 'Vette does. Add more than a few other current GM vehicles to the list and you really do have a company with some future. My ONLY problem with GM right now is their decision to keep GMC and ditch Saturn

Grew up with vettes its the only GM I would buy rite now,take my friends C5 now and then.Vette kinda special to me, even if its GM.But if you buy say a C4S 911 I could make that my final toy I could keep the rest of my life.
