2010 European Car of the Year Nominations Announced: Which One is Your Favorite?

Until I saw one in person, I thought the new E-Class had the most awkard lines. The new E looks pretty darn good in person. My vote's for the new E.

E Class all the way. I saw that new commercial the other night with the E class coupe speeding towards the showroom, and then busting through the glass at like 100mph. The coupe is just plain awesome.

According to the American Magazine Car and Driver, "the i20 is a premium small car that excites them about the Next Generation Accent" "Though Significantly (Is is 4 inches shorter than the Accent 3 door hatch and 13 inches shorter than the Accent sedan) Smaller than an Accent the i20 gives you a Premium big car feel."

Essentially the Interior doesnt look as futuristic as the Fit or feel as Luxury as the Audi A1, but it is Premium enough to be competive With Premium small cars like the A Class and Audi A1.

i20=Europe's Genesis. As in their car to show "Hey we can make a Premium small car and do it well, and it would be a smart value proposition."

for the americans:
1. european car of the year is 99 % of the time small and mostly fairly cheap. So, no mercedes can win
2. Every car that is present in the EU market is considered for this award
3. Skoda Yeti should win.

Skoda Yeti/Fabia has been out longer than the i20. If Skodas were so good VW would bring em over as their cheap cars. That may happen in the future, it may not. VW USA is going upmarket like Hyundai, VW will need a cheap brand like a SEAT or Skoda in America to bring people in.

Everyone knows that only Americans get the best foreign made cars. The other stuff wouldnt even pass basic American tests to get sold here. If it is good enough for Europe it usually is not good enough for America. You guys sell Chinese, Malaysian, and Indian cars come on. LMAO!!!! FIAT and Alfa Romeo will flop, just becuase America is a big country and Americans drive a lot. Thus, we expect cars to work everyday.

Top Gear and the other Euro Auto Journalists think Alfa's Reliablity Problems are cute, however I dont think the guy driving from New York to Sacremento a distance of over 5000KM will find Alfa's relaiblity problems cute when he gets stuck 100 KM outside Pahrump, Nevada. Getting stuck in Pahrump, Nevada is the equivalent of getting stuck in the Sahara Desert.

Toyota IQ is upscale to what? A Chinese car. Come on now!!!

Europe is the Guinea Pig for car technology. Once they get it working sort of correctly, then they try to bring it to America.

Engines everything. They get tested in Europe for a couple of years or even more before they even consider bringing it here.

Hyundai/KIA is a prime example. They will start production on a new engine for Europe for 1-2 Years, then bring it to America in a KIA, and only if the system is tried and true they will even consider putting it in a Hyundai.

The New 1.6L Gamma engine in the Hyundai i20 is a Prime Example. They put it in the Hyundai i20 First, then the KIA Soul. The the Next Gen Accent and Rio in the US will finally get it in a Year from now. By then they have done so much real world testing that there will be no Kinks or unexpected suprises.
