2010 Hyundai IX35: full details revealed

We’re sure you’ve been waiting for it so we’ll just give the full specification and details of Hyundai’s new IX35 SUV without delay.

By now, you probably know that the official launching will be at the Frankfurt motor show next week. Here’s the latest release.

A majority of the car’s styling cues are taken from Geneva’s ix-onic concept and it is the first production Hyundai to feature the firm’s new hexagonal family grille. It will replace the Tucson model in the range. Its 2640mm wheelbase is 10mm longer than the Tucson to give more interior legroom. Its 4410mm length and 1820mm width are greater than its predecessor’s dimensions by 85mm and 20mm respectively. It is also 20mm lower without affecting headroom.

Let's see if the new "hexagonal" family grille carries over to the other models or if its just the latest in a melange of misfit grilles derived from which ever manufacturer they happen to be copying at the moment.

I notice that the 2011 Sonata/Camry only has a 4 sided grille. Oops, FAIL.

true, Hyundai needs to find a design style and stay with it. As it is, none of them carry any semblance that says "must be a Hyundai"...well, unless it's being flatbedded.

This is perhaps the first of the new wave of Hyundais that I do not particularly care for. I think the wheel-wells are too small, and are positioned too low in the panels. That visual trick is used to give height where it really doesn't exist. If they had taken the wheel well cutouts to approximately where the current character line around it is, then that would yield a better look, I think. The interior looks in keeping with current Hyundai practice, but with the exception of the shifter knob, I don't care for the "aluminium look" bits and pieces. Not impressed with this one at all, Hyundai.

Funny, I basically posted the same thing. All the odd cuts and curves with no purpose have ruined BMW, not Hyundai is copying their ugly trait.

I'm a desenter. I'm feeling this SUV and the Ford Kuga style could do wonders here. I like small to mid size vehicles, this is great over all.
