This is a nice, clean design. There was one in Southern Cali about a month ago (silver) and it got my attention. I told my girl that it was a Kia and she couldn't believe it (car had nothing to indicate what it was)

Funny, the Civic would be called boring but when the autoworld's new darling Korea comes out with the exact same design, they claim it will be inspiring. The only thing that it inspired was a $2000 discount vs the Civic.

Also I found out today that the Current gen Accent and Elantra will be discontinued in Winter 2010. The Next Gen Accent and Elantra will come out in Spring/Summer of 2010 and they will have: Coupe, Sedan and 5 door hatch variants for both vehicles.

Note: that would be a year earlier than scheduled for the Elantra and 6 months earlier for the Accent.

It used to be (still is, actually) that the Asian manufacturers, particularly the Japanese ones, imitated German design cues. Now the Korean makers are imitating the Japanese designs. In general, why do the Asian manufacturers have so little originality when it comes to automotive styling?

blaniac, yes the Veloster will be the Elantra Coupe. It will be Elantra SE. Accordign to Hyundai CEO SE=Direct Injection Turbos, and the Next gen Accent and Sonata will be the first cars to get this.

Whatthe, but the KIA has 20 more HP and the same MPG as the Civic.

And Huu, the Civic was the 3rd runner up for North American car of the Year in 2006. Iam quite sure a better looking car like the Forte, with the same gas mileage and more Horsepower; built by an Automaker in which even though most people hate them they have imporved so much and make great cars will be a runner up for that award this year. The Soul as well.

I have been in a Forte, and I have been in the Civic. The Forte has:

1. A better interior, with better quality materials.

2. Comes form the Spectra Lineage (Not Platform) in which the last 5 years the Spectra has been considered a more reliable car than the Civic.

3. Cheaper than the Civic.


With this thing on the market, plus those Ugly Next gen Civic spy shots. The Forte might the ovbious successor to the Civic in the Autoworld. Why not look a little like one? You'd be a dumbas- not to consider the Forte over the Civic in this C- segment.

That Civic has a VW Grille. Oh, and by the way huu, some of your precious Future Toyota models looks as if they are going for the new Generation VW grille look as well. Boy that Toyotabaru Sports car looks like a VW Scirocco. from the front end.

Hey genius, its called a 1993 Toyota Supra TT, what Hyundai's 2nd gen Tiburon was copied from. Keep on trying, Hyundai/Kia will forever need atleast a $2000+ discount to keep up.

That used to be the case but Japan has its own styling now (Toyota/Lexus and Acura) which often is being copied by the Germans (i.e. VW Jetta).

Oh yeah, some other cars with big nostrils. Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII and Subaru Impreza STI. Like the Supra, the big nose actually serves a purpose but I wouldn't expect you to know that.

The 1994 Celica also has a big intake, long before VW decided to invent it as a styling design.
The Fast & Furious crowd has aftermarket bumpers with huge intakes years before VW hopped on the bandwagon.

But huu, thats the point. Why not save money? How is that going to hurt? Those who buy Hyundai/KIA products like value over, "Oh I spent a little more, so Iam better than you." Believe it or not huu, those who buy Hyundai/KIA products in the states have higher stock portfolios than the average Lexus onwer. Even my boss who makes close to 70K US a year drives a KIA Sorrento. Those who buy Hyundai/KIA products use money as a tool, not a toy.

Toyota buyers used to be like that, but you guys sold out for image years ago.

Huu, the rear end looks a little like the Tiburon, but the styling is original for the most part.
