For somebody looking for an eco-friendly luxury sedan, the Lexus HS250h is a perfect fit, and it has the potential to be a huge success for Lexus.

The HS is, however, not a car that speaks to the soul of a driver. It lacks the performance and involvement necessary to provide the thrills motorists like us live for. While we found ourselves entertained and impressed by the HS250h, we prefer a car we can drive, rather than a car that merely gets us from point A to point B in comfort. We don’t need all the bells and whistles the HS offers, but we’re sure there are plenty of consumers out there who think they do.

Why in the world would anybody buy this POS when you can buy a C250CDI which has:

1. 45mpg
2. better handling
3. faster 0-60 and top speed
4. more luxurious
5. safer
6. greener emissions

The C250CDI just kills the HS250h by all means the HS250h is an EPIC FAIL.

I agree. There are diesel alternatives to hybrids that are both economical and more enjoyable to drive.

Lexus is always forward thinking producing cars for the intelligent, environmentally conscious, and responsible individuals, thats why they use hybrids.

Buy hybrid if you care about environment and health, what to save money on gas and to be part of the solution toward independence

Buy diesel if want to save money on gas but don't give two shits about environment and public health (diesel engine exhaust contains a number of a potent carcinogens–particulate responsible for many birth defects and other health problems, hence, banded in 5 states)

sector what kind of exhaust pipe are you smoking the HS uses more gas and petrol has carcinogens in it as well. Plus the HS uses more gas and hence pollutes more. I.E. it is less green, how is this forward thinking.

hmm let me just go down to my local MB dealer and pick up a C250 CDI, OH WAIT, I CANT cause they dont sell them here in the United states. But they do sell them in europe, where they dont sell the HS. Two different markets for two different cars

Why will this do well?

People enjoy the concept of the Prius (green, futuristic, etc...) but as there is a Prius at every intersection now, people want something different.

Enter the Lexus h. It's new and seperates itself from the Prius with its name and feature content.

You might not like it personally, but from a marketing standpoint, it's a good idea.

Where do you guys live at Arizona? Where most of the state is an uninhabitable wasteland, so getting away with speeding is easy? Passion, Soul, of the driver at least where I live at= Suspended drivers license.

I live in a state where Ill do 120, 130, 140 but for 2 or 3 miles at a time, in a rural area. Anything else longer than that=asking for jail time.

Actually, the Camry-hybrid (therefore HS250h) requires less oil in a year than the Jetta TDI. 10.6 vs 11.6 barrels per year and both cars get the same 34mpg combined mileage. Compare this to the Prius which only needs 7.4 barrels and gets a 46 combined mpg.

Then there's carbon footprint, Prius(4), Camryh(5.4) and Jetta TDI (6.2) in tons.

Research usually differs from marketing hype. Don't believe the hype, its just intended to help the Europeans sell more profitable diesels with little real regard for the env't.

Do you understand anything about the production chain in a hybrid ?
Where is the Nickel Lithium Mined ?
Where is it refined ?
Where is the battery Made ?

All of those are Extra Long journeys made across continents in huge Cargo Vessels Burning Millions of Tons of Diesel and producing Tons of Carbon Dioxide and that is before the carbon footprint for the manufacture of the bloody rest of the car is factored in.

So how the hell can you claim these cars are green ?

I95 is absolutely correct.

One may feel great about driving a hybrid but I'd love to show any hybrid owner the exploited labor in less developed nations used to rape the earth of its minerals and destroy the land. Hybrid owners believe they're being intelligent when really the impact is simply shifted somewhere else.

Smug doesn't equal smart.

Just drive less or encourage your local governments to build bigger, better mass transit.

To hell with being green, its all about the MPG. When people really admit that they dont give a damm about being green, but more about saving green at the pump or anywhere else then maybe we will get some action going with the environment.

The cheap green tech will win: Hyrbids, Direct Injection, Turbos, and Diesels. Hydrogen is a pipe dream. Hyrbids are Blue Ray and Hydrogens are HD DVD. We all know who won that race.
