2010 MY Acura's new RL caught in the wild?
Acura brings the all-new RL out in the wild. Unfortunately they knew I was in pursuit, so they began to cut traffic and move at a faster pace than my vehicle was capable. Really nice rear end though, i'd just assume the front looks like the new TSX, just more bold.

The rearend looks like a spin-off of the new S-Class... not a stretch since Acura has always enjoyed copying benzes.

Oh come on now fan boy. Deboost me for what? because you can't face the truth?. Lexus was created to target Mercedes. Think they didn't borrow a few ideas in the beginning. Funny how niave fan boys are.

This is the 09 RL, you can buy right now. 2010 will be out this time next year.

Agreed nice rear-end, sort of resembles the S-Class. I'm also assuming the front end resembles the TSX which is the perfect way to go & ruin an otherwise elegant design.

Acura really need a bigger roomy car instead of Maxima size.

Well from what the rear looks like it appears the RL looks more upscale now than the poorly thought out RL of right now.

The TL is by far the best Acura. Lets hope this RL takes that top position because it is supposed to be the flagship.

If the TL is the best that Acura can do then Acura is hurting. A FWD car is their best vehicle? LOL!

At the exhaust you can see an inner circle where the "real" exhaust is. Kind of a cheesy look IMO.

Did you know the exhaust from the IS-F isn't actually the pipe itself? It's for cosmetic purposes.

Agent 63, they are no different than any other chrome exhaust tips. There are two pipes emitting from each muffler. What is wrong with chrome for cosmetic purposes?

i think he meant the the double stacked exhaust isn't really pipes. it's just like a cover over the real ones. i noticed that but if you dont notice you cant tell.

If the A4 is a rebadged Passat, then by your logic this is a rebadged Accord.

I don't understand how somebody who loves Acura could hate Audi. Audi is in a very similar position, except its cars are far, far superior.

I'm no fan of the new look, but it's too early to say it drives like crap...there's a small bump in power/torque plus the SH-AWD system is supposed to be tweaked for better handling (RWD bias)...

I was wondering what the fuss was about. It looks like it has looked since this model was introduced. The funny thing is all the people on here blabbing about it looks like an S-Class or 7-Series or Lexus copies the Germans or Acura isn't even premium...
Do you guys even pay attention?

Good question. Do the guys on here pay attention? I don't think most do. Most people on here seem to be more interested in shouting their opinion then listening to others. Lots of monologues and not much dialog.

Just look at some of the comments on this thread alone
- If it doesn't speak German, it's not worth my time"
- Lexus is the biggest luxury car maker in the world. Everyone else are small potatoes"

I mean, come on guys. Is there any hope of an intelligent discussion on AutoSpies? Sometimes there are some very knowledgable guys making some intelligent comments, and I learn some things. Most of the time its adolescent chatter and I just come here to just get the jumps to other articles.

You cannot deny that the rear has an S-class look to it, but it looks tasteful. Definitely looks larger than the last one by a little bit. Now if they just give the V8 option with 350+ hp it would sell.

This is the 2009 RL due in showrooms within a couple of weeks. Nothing changes as far as dimensions or room. 10Hp plus addtional torque directed to the rear wheels for less of FWD driving dynamics. Unfortunately, it will not do anything to stop the bleeding, especially with an SH-AWD 310hp TL coming by November. The RL is actually a fantastic car withing the 50K segment. I have driven every one of its competitors and it easily holds it own against any German car out there. And with the torque-vectoring AWD, one of the safest and capable cars on the road. And before anyone says anything, BMW and AUDI are getting ready to launch their version of torque-vectoring AWD. The RL was never a Halo car, but then NONE of it competitors were either.
There are some photos that were taken of a 2010 RL mule over at Vtec.net that I wish some of you would take a look at because that car has Halo car written all over it.

Happy Fathers Day to all Dads out there.

All good info, however, the RL test mule is exactly that. Its not the actual car, its simply a stretched TSX body over the frame for testing purposes only, just like the NSX that was running on the 'ring with the S2000 body.

Why does everyone knock so hard on the Japanese? Granted, this car mmc is a failure, but don't trash the driving dynamics if you've never driven one. FYI the RL is a very good commuter and handles probably better than most of it's competitors. If you havn't driven one, read about it before posting baseless opinions.

No one has stopped to think that the current backend of the S-class is quite a departure from what S-class was before.. On the otherhand the Acura RL (Legend in other markets) has evolved from the last generation. I think it is the Benz that is looking more like an Honda rather the other way around.. I compared the look from all generations of the cars..

For EL34..

You mean ike the bangle butt which in fact was compied from the Hyundai Genesis (Koreans)..

Face it, all car companies copy from each other, don;t you think each car company has designers and design centres from around the world..

People only have to look at the Ausi A2 which isn't made anymore.. those bug eyes of headlights on those A2 were the direction Audi was in at the time, it even influenced the previous generation Audi TT. Then suddenly Audi comes out with the new Audi TT with more slanty eyes headlights.. don;t tell me they didn't follow the industry trend !! and go for sloping front headlights..

All the chrome and stuff and around the headlights and backlights on the VWs smacks very much of Lexus IS200/300 series.. I have to say VW and Audi group are one of the most non-innovative companies in terms of styling, they seem to grab bits from other car companies.. e,g, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Honda.. Nissan etc..

The new RL will create about as much buzz as the last one did. Which is zero. Will this car be based off the Honda Accord Platform like the last one?

Acura seems to have discovered that they really don't have to build competitive cars in order for them to sell. Why waste all this money on R&D when you can just use the Honda Accord platform instead?

yea, when i first saw it, i thought it was a Mercedes, the LED tail lights chrome garnish across the back as well as the dual exhaust just kinda felt like i was looking at an oddly shaped CLS. Its too bad I couldnt get a pic of the front, but basically imagine a slightly bolder TSX face. Car was quick i'll tell you that
