The Mazda CX-7 for the 2010 model year will receive both exterior and interior upgrades to compensate for a skew of engineering improvements done on it. The first of these upgrades can be found in the powerplant itself.

The CX-7 will come with the brand new naturally ventilated DOHC 16-valve 2.5-liter MZR 4-cylinder that attains 161hp at 6000rpm with maximum torque of 161lb-ft at 3500rpm. It comes with FWD paired to a 5-speed auto. Included in the top engine choice is the MZR 2.3-liter DISI Turgo (direct injection DOHC 16-valve, 4-cylinder) powerplant. Yield stays the same at 244hp attained at 5000rpm with 258lb-ft of torque reached at 2,500rpm. Other improvements on the 2010 CX-7 includes body rigidity, reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels including reduction in wind noise.
