2010 Mercedes Benz E-Class. Rear shot and interior shot.
It seems as if the guys over at carscoop.com have gotten their hands on the latest issue of Autobild magazine which has pictures of the rear end of the new 2010 Mercedes Benz E-Class and the interior (which btw looks like extremely similar to the current C-Class) Overall I am a fan of the front of the new E-Class, Not too sure about the interior yet and still on the fence when it comes to the tail lights. Take a look for yourself, I thought I would post this because 007vehispy1's article had a picture of the new E-Class that gave it absolutely no justice. Read Article

The front is not bad, but the rear looks like Hyundai.

Man, the Bangle fever now spreads to another brand whose design I used to love.

Atleast they got something right, and put the emblem back on the hood where it belongs.

when did the e-class not have the emblem on the hood?

I think he is referring to the shield emblem on the grille versus incorporating it into the star base on the hood. Mercedes started incorporating the shield on the star base in the 1990's but had this setup during since the 1930's.

The star ornament was separated from the grille in the 1990's as well beginning with the 1992 W202 C-Class, this car was also the first to incorporate the shield to the star base as well starting the trend for the next 13 years.
I for on am glad they are back to their roots.

Ohhh..rear looks nearly identical to the Hyundai Genesis. That's a great shame, together with GS like headlamps, nothing original and exciting about this new design.

A great disspointment, especially becasue current E is one of the most beautiful sedan around, classci and elegant. This is bland and me-too looking.

I actually find the current E bland and uninteresting, I'd much rather have a C.

The Lexus GS headlamps are a little late in coming innit? The interior is a mess of angular shapes with ghastly looking wood panelling - looks like lacquered plastic, with an even uglier oversized steering wheel that looks like a headless sumo wrestler with stained underwear. If this is the new E-Klasse, time for BMW and Audi to pop the champagne

The current E class looks great but it is a little on the boring side. I love this new E class. It is aggressive looking but without losing the typical Mercedes class and charm. Fantastic car!

Because they sold very well back then; recent focus groups called for a return to that solid look (I know, because I was in just such a group for MBZ).

IF IT'S REAL!!!

i still have reservation about this design. i wouldn't be surprised if it was a PROPOSED design. nor would i be surprised if the real thing had most of the design elements (particularly the hood). but after seeing some of the more impressive designs such as the cls, s, and cl, i remain a skeptic.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was real, because it seems as if the CL and S had completely different designers from the C and GLK. The C and GLK are the two latest models from Mercedes and they carry the boxy design theme, as well as the ugly, '80s interior design. This E looks like those cars.

good point about the differing design themes within the brand.

i wouldn't call the 80's design theme ugly as much as just an anachronism. i liked it in my 190e, and it aged well through the w124 e-class. but c'mon, nobody wears seersucker suits anymore.

I doubt it. It's not the case in the other photos we have seen. Right now the M,R,GL,S,and CL have the electronic shifter stalk. Which IMO is great

Hachee2001Hachee2001 - 9/29/2008 10:49:19 AM

It's like a bigger C-Class with retro cues. I am not feeling this model, just as I haven't felt the last two generations. The wedge profile looks exaggerated, especially the character line near the bottom of the doors. I also see something odd in the roof line - it's a bit like the last generation Accord (rear doors, C-pillar).

E Classes have always been sort of plain, but at this and the last few gens have been plain, inoffensive and ordinary. I'm glad to see a return in spirit to the 80s models, which IMO was the pinnacle of the Benz history, but I think the execution here is lacking.

The front isn't bad, although I'd like to see it without those extra, inside lights, and less triangular headlights. And while the rear is a little jarring, I have a feeling it will look better in person. And while I like the concept of returning to the traditional 70s and 80s (and early 90s) interior design, which IMO was among the best of all cars, this, at least in these pictures, is coming off unually cheap looking. Go take a look on ebay at old E and S Classes from the 80s and 90s (but not the '96 and later E's) and you'll see how great the old designs were.

I think the back end looks like the Hyundai Sonata, which obviously is even cheaper looking than the Genesis. And as far as the interior, it seems like MB continued the "retro" look but forgot to leave out the "old and outdated" look.

Okay so what? Hyundai has started many trends believe it or not if u look back in its history. Just because something looks like another doesnt make it so. You people that judge books by their cover dont know ANYTHING about automobiles.

And it looks more like an evolution of the W210 e-class (1996-2002) than a Hyundai.

w, take it easy. Talk about be over dramatic. Usually high volume car lines tend to use very conservative designs so that they can appeal to the masses. Furthermore, the more intricate the exterior or interior design, ie, more complex plastic molds, extra trim pieces, etc, drive pricing up. So when someone is pointing out a likeness in design, it sort of speaks of cheapness. Which is certainly against MB design philosophy...

Win what..."the redneck choice" trophy? CTS is a tasteless abomination with appeal to the 70+ crowd who hangs flags on the windows of their cars.

The E class is the choice of the successful intellectual elite and its only competition is the gorgeous 5 series BMW.

This interior picture contradics the other ones we have seen. The shifter was not on the floor on the other pictures rather on the steering column such as the one found on the CL, S, ML, GL, and R.

Although Im sure this is very close to what it will look like Im waiting for the OFFICIAL photos to decide what I think about it.
